Icons on the right side of the character selection screen

…Implies to me that the groundwork is being laid to dissolve PC involvement with their respective factions and make them “free agents” or mercenaries for either side.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on this?

It needed to happen, faction split was a cool gimmic in the late 2000s but has only caused more problems.

Factions should only effect the side you go on in pvp and which cities/towns/and fp’s you use. All players should be able to group, guild, raid, chat, and play with each other.

No. We’re the cool faction.

No gnomes allowed.

No idea what the icons look like.

the usual, horde/alliance insignia symbols

For me it doesn’t matter if they dissolve these so called factions since Alliance and Horde really never fight each other in game though BFA was touted as the faction war so let them and if players want faction pride there is always Horde mode.

Yet you let goblins in?

They built Ogrimmar. By the time we made the decision to let them in, they had already been “in.”

Not so sure, when I played Warcraft I saw Orcs building Orgrimmar.

Gazlowe was the chief architect. Was present in WC3 Frozen Throne orc campaign and later reinforced that fact in WoD.

theres also goblins who visit stormwind, and 1 that is part of the alliance SI.7. >->

Goblins don’t usually care about their employers. Renzik and Gazlowe are the two notable exceptions where a goblin actually picks a side for ideological reasons (we can see Gazlowe isn’t just your typical money-hungry stereotype and Renzik has apparently no financial… or known… motivations whatsoever) so it makes sense for either side to have them in their company.

what about the goblin that is dating a gnome?

Not so much an Alliance character as someone trying to escape a Horde one.

It’s about time they merged the factions, or rather just had no factions period. Now they aren’t handcuffed to this old idea and can take the story in numerous new directions.

Like what will Tyrande do now?

well he was wanted dead so what choice did he have?

Or it’s just an easy visual way to identify which character you’re looking for.

They also added class colors to the log-in screen.

Just dont Group with gnomes then.

Leave that choice up to the players, not up to blizz.

This is the best change to happen to WoW in a long time, if it happens

I would love for them to get rid of the faction segregation after this expansion. Let people pick a side for PvP reasons but let everyone play together no matter their choice in race/ faction.

It would finally get rid of the horde v alliance racial favouritism you always get in raids. And it would make for an amazing experience for new players who if they get invited to play through RAF probably end up stuck on the faction their veteran friend is on.

I know my brother wanted to play Orc way back when but I was a blue blooded alliance player and all my stuff to help us level was all on my Alliance toons. Letting him play as an orc who is friends with a human paladin would have been awesome.

The Horde V Alliance thing is old now. Its the same tired story of “we hate each other, we must kill each other, oh something bigger than our differences threatens us, we must ally with each other, now the big bad is dead we hate each other and we must kill each other”

Its boring now Blizz. Shake up the game! Do something new with it that doesnt involve us levelling some magic macguffin for an expansion only to lose it at the end.

Sounds like a horrible idea to make WoW like all the other generic MMOs out there, and take away from its individuality.
