Icons of Power (SOD) unable to complete due to picking up item prior to getting the quest

Just started in Durotar. While killing Scorpids obtained a Rune and used it. Then picked up the Icons of Power quest which tells you to kill Scorpids to find the quest item (the Rune). Item is no longer obtainable seeing as it has already been looted and used.

Cannot progress with what it seems is an important quest.

Same issue as well. Abandoning and restarting does not work, as you cannot pick up the idol again.

They have to kill many scorpions until they fill a buff.
then use the totem, good look guys in SOD :heart:

So you likely have the item already equipped in your rune slot (beside weapons in character sheet). Get 10 stacks of nature damage again (can be from a dueling a shaman and 10x lightning bolt), then use the relic (which is currently equipped).

For me, equipping in relic slot and also having on hot bar worked AFTER:

I dropped quest, re-got it.

Went and got 10 STACKS (takes forever) on scorpids

Used hot bar button to LEARN and then return to Quest giver.

Same issue with me. I picked up the the rod first - the rod disappeared from inventory but I was able to get stacks but no way to equip the power. I have killed like 20 scorpions no rod

I’m having an issue with this quest
Orc Shaman
when i finished the scorpions I unlocked Shield Mastery, and placed the rune on my chest piece
and when I went back to the quest giver, it wouldnt let me complete
event went back out with another Galvanic Icon and got the inspired buff, went back to the quest giver, and still can’t obtain Overload as the reward since I cannot relearn shield mastery from it

Level 21 curently, went back for shield mastery but can’t get inspiration. Tried killing level 9 boars outside of Org with rank 1 lightning bolt but no inspiration. Sounds like you can’t get inspiration by killing grey mobs, and also need to use rank 1 lightning bolt which puts me in an awkward spot as I can’t seemingly get this rune now?

So how to make this work?

I found that I could go to say the Barrens, find a green mob, and cast at LEAST 1 rank 1 Lightning Bolt (make a macro /cast Lightning Bolt(Rank 1)) and then kill the mob with your normal rank of lightning bolt. I took off my chest so overload didn’t proc as that didn’t seem to count.

  1. Ensure Overload is off
  2. Find a mob that grants XP (green or above)
  3. Use Rank 1 Lightning Bolt at least ONCE
  4. Kill 10 mobs using the steps above, you can use normal ranked Lightning Bolt to kill, just cast Rank 1 at least once

This allowed me to build inspiration and finish this relic to grant the rune.
