Icon search - macro, item sets, bank tab selection

So this is a real quality of life thing. I love to have just the right icon for Macros, Item Sets, and Guild Bank Tabs. It helps me speed up what I’m looking for, and WoW has so many fantastically artistic icons.

But… Why no SEARCH function? I realize that it would be difficult because all of the database names are probably not standardized in any way, but we SHOULD be able to search by the item name in the game.

For example: I want to use the carrot icon so I search for “Carrot” or “Carrot on a stick”…
or by spell name.

At least this would help narrow down the hunt for that particular memorable icon. If nothing else, perhaps by color? Less useful but it would be something.

I realize there are MANY OTHER important things to take care of first (ahem Blight Boar ghosts disappearing*) that affect people’s games, but this might be an easy implementation. Y’all don’t have to go hog-wild and redesign anything. Just add a search box that allows us to narrow things down a bit.

ps: Does wowhead have any kind of help in this job?

I am having the same issue. It takes me more than 15 minutes, and sometimes twice that to find the icon I need. Very frustrating.

I totally agree with you! It’s gotten a little bit better since they updated it into two sections now to find specific icons, but we really do need a search ability. There use to be an add-on to search, but I think it’s been abandoned.
