"Ice Barrier" "Will of the Forsaken"

Hi, I’m new to the game and I’ve only played Wizard and I did it with the intention of doing the same as some streamers to make dungeons with many mobs.
At last I have reached level 60, I equip myself a little and I have a question regarding these two abilities: It turns out that the Ice Barrier ability says something like this; dampens an amount of damage for 1 minute and while the shield is activated, spells will not be interrupted.
Well the problem is that since I take it out they never hurt me while I have the active skill but practically always, because it is very, very rare that it does not happen, they interrupt the spells when they hit me (melee or at a distance) when seeing That the streamers did not happen to them I thought I had to reach level 60 and equip myself better but even so, they keep interrupting my casting.
The same happens with the will of the renegades; They stun me and I try to get it out with that ability and sometimes it gets it out of me and other times it doesn’t; I even shot it before they hit me and figuring the countdown that I have the active ability, they hit me and stun me the same or scare me.
I doubt that he is the only one that happens to him, because I have 2 more relatives playing and the same thing happens to him; I would like you to tell me why this happens to me, if it is a bug and I must report it as such or is it that I am doing something wrong due to my lack of experience in the game.

Are you from the Philippines?

It’s a phrasing thing. When Ice Barrier says that spells will not be interrupted, it’s referring to the spell pushback that makes spells take longer when you take damage. You’re still vulnerable to abilities like Kick, Counterspell, and so on.

Similarly, Will of the Forsaken doesn’t affect stuns; it affects fear and charm and mind control abilities. A stun is a different kind of effect, which isn’t removed by Will of the Forsaken.

Thank you very much for answering.
I am not from the Philippines.
When I have Ice Barrier active when receiving a hit, it does not take my life, but they reduce my casting time, depending on the mob, each hit reduces the casting between 0.8 to 2.5 seconds.
will of the renegades; When mobs hit me, they let me walk slowly, this ability sometimes takes me out and sometimes not.

I show video of what I comment

Ice Barrier

The ice barrier video is definitely strange. My assumption is that those whip lashers have a special ability that causes pushback regardless of absorption shields. Does this happen vs other types of enemies? You shouldn’t have spell push-back while shielded.

As for the will of the forsaken clip, I’m not sure what the issue is here. wotf doesn’t remove stuns. It removes fear, charm, and sleep. In that video you do not get stunned or feared though. You are hit by a daze, which happens when a mob lvl 48+ hits you from behind, if you are a level 60. While dazed you will be slowed down for 3 seconds. Mobs that are grey (lvl 47 and below for a lvl 60) can not daze you. To avoid getting dazed try not letting mobs 48+ hit you from behind.

Also, similarly to push-back, mobs should not be able to daze you while you have an absorption shield on. So keep them away, prevent them from hitting your back, and keep a shield on to keep from getting dazed. I hope this helps.

Just a helpful tip regarding your videos, you don’t need to be so close for Arcane Explosion while aoe grinding. It has a surprisingly larger radius than the visual effect.

have you tried unlearning your talents then relearning them (respeccing).

For Will of the Forsaken, it only provides immunity to Fear, Charm, and Sleep. That spell does NOT provide immunity to stuns and slows. However, if you have the PvP trinket Insignia of the Horde, you will be able to be able to dispel Fear, Polymorph, and Slowing effects.

I can’t speak to the other issue, as I don’t know if Ice Barrier prevents spell pushback or spell interruption (2 different game mechanics). The tooltip says Spell Interruption, which to me reads as Spell lock (so you can’t be counterspelled with the Barrier active). You still may be susceptible to spell push back because that’s not the same thing. I didn’t level my mage until Cata, so I can’t really help you with that one. But maybe try a duel and have a fellow mage try to counterspell one of your channeled spells when Barrier is active to see if the barrier protects against counter spell (or have a rogue Kick you when channeling a spell with Barrier active). Then duel a melee class and have them auto attack you with Barrier active and channeling a spell. That should give you better insight into how that spell works.

Thank you for clarifying my doubts about Will of the Forsaken; now I understand that I misunderstood the skill.
Ice barrier; Yes, it happens against any mob that is inside any dungeon, even sometimes with mobs that are in the open world.
But it’s not just me, at home we play with 3 people with different PCs and the same thing happens to us.
I do not want to report something if I am not sure it is an error; But from what I read, what happens to me with the Ice Barrier is not normal.

That has got to be a bug.

Ice Barrier is supposed to prevent pushback and you seemed to have it up the whole time those lashers were hitting you.

Very strange.

Many times, at this moment, to prescribe the talents again costs me 50 gold; but what happens to me is from the beginning, since I took out the ice barrier ability.
Yes, I am a herbalist

ice barrier one looks like a bug, id report it to get it fixed. you shouldn’t have spells interrupted in it.

This is most likely your problem. Kill the mobs then pick the herbs. Don’t try and do both at once

Hmmm very interesting, I am not sure what else to tell you :/.

Unique problem, I would try opening a help ticket in-game and posting this video on the bug report forum

It didn’t work for me, I don’t grow flowers, they also reverse my casting.
I leave video of what I say.

Hello, I’ve experienced this problem before and have heard a lot of others complain about it as well. One solution I saw someone post a while ago was to make this macro for Ice Barrier instead. They said it helped them. Just do not spam the button, only press it once since if you press twice it will remove the shield again. Let me know if this works for you or not please.

I will do what you tell me and then I edit this same answer and tell you if it works.
I edit it because I can’t write twice in a row.

EDIT: Unfortunately it did not work for me

Have you tried disabling all addons? I can’t imagine how an addon is causing this but it’s just as hard to imagine shields not preventing pushback. One of my first instincts was that this could be from a private server cause of how odd it is, but then you wouldn’t be posting here about it.

Also this.

It is a bug with Ice Barrier (and assumedly other spells that are similar) where they don’t stop pushback on spells when they should. It happens due to some set of circumstances that is undefined.

It has been reported for the past year on the forums and by some popular boosters/streamers/etc. and has happened to me the same way so it isn’t unique to just to him.
