My boyfriend and I ran Icecrown Citadel Heroic yesterday and are now unable to run it again on any alts. I thought I remembered doing this repeatedly myself years ago (on different faction characters) farming for Invincible’s Reigns, and everyone standing around the entrance tonight confirmed that we should be able to. But every time we enter - whether after resetting, ungrouping and trying solo, or even on a different difficulty - the map shows cleared. It did this last week, as well. Please help! We have lost so many runs / chances at Invincible’s Reigns because of this.
Just for clarification since it’s a little unclear in your post:
Each character can only run one instance of ICC a week regardless of difficulty.
Did you already run ICC on those alts?
Were you attempting to share a lockout at the lich king? That was changed a while ago and it’s not very hard to successfully share a lockout, it’s not really intended.
If you attempted to share but then went and killed the lich king on one of those characters all of your alts would be saved to the completed instance.

I run ICC on multiple alts every week, so it’s very possible it’s one of the issues Jeysca listed.
This as well. I messed up on three alts last week because I ran them in 10H instead of 25H because I wasn’t paying attention.

If only one of you or your boyfriend are bringing in alts, that will also lock the new alt to the instance. Like if your boyfriend kept the same character and you brought a new character, your character would get locked to his save. You both have to bring a fresh alt every time that hasn’t run it on any level of difficulty.

To clarify! We had only run it this week on our mains. We then took one alt each, a fresh alt, to run it again and the map showed that it has already been cleared. No matter what we did, reset, ungroup, try solo, try a different difficulty. All the same.
Support couldn’t find anything wrong and mentioned something about running it on normal first? Do you need to run the raid on normal before it opens heroic? And if so, do you need to do that on each character to open heroic for that character? Is it possible we thought we were running it on heroic and weren’t?

So, to clarify! We had run ICC on heroic on our mains. We then each of us brought a fresh alt to run it again. No alts had run it this week. I’ve run this on alts a million times on a different faction several years ago! So I am not sure what the problem is.
Support found nothing wrong and mentioned trying to run it on normal first? Does the raid need to be run on normal before it opens heroic? And if so, do you need to do that on each character you want to run heroic on?

Try running on normal, but then might have to wait until the following week (Weekly Reset) to run Heroic.
I don’t know if this will help, try with a full UI Reset. Otherwise, I don’t have any other suggestions on what could work to help.

I know this thread is a bit old, but with the Collector’s event going on, I ran into an issue with Nighthold. I had already run it on mythic for a chance at the green infernal mount, but realized from wowhead comments that you could run it on all difficulties each week. I tried to take an alt and run on Normal and couldn’t enter. All my alts faced the same. So, it looks like you have to run them in order from Normal to Heroic/Mythic.
I think with old Wrath raids, you needed to run normal first to unlock heroic? It’s been so long, I can’t remember.
You do not, you can do them in any order for Nighthold.
What error were you getting? Is it possible you had ran 10 instances on the licenses in the last hour? It’s quite easy to hit that limit.
At least now, they have removed the having to run normal before heroic for ICC. I have ran countless alts through there on H25 man this week that has never stepped foot into any lich king content.

The instance limit will block you from zoning in and print a warning in chat so it’s impossible to mistake.
I can’t help with why you might have been locked out, but I have been reading many players claiming that the green infernal drop from Nighthold has NOT been buffed for Collector’s Bounty! I’d go peruse the comments section for that mount on WoWhead for more info. I’ve stopped running it for now, but it CAN still drop. It just appears to not have the droprate buffed.
I can confirm that the Living Infernal Core has the buff rate increased, as I have recieved it this week, and I haven’t even farmed Nighthold in the past for mounts.

No, not an instance limit. There was no warning in chat. I also have an addon that warns me when I’m reaching the instance limit.
I simply could not enter the instance at all on more than one alt. No error. I just couldn’t enter. I even tried it the next day. Still the same thing. However, on a different alt, I was able to enter on Normal, then Heroic, then Mythic, but on any alt that had already run Mythic, I could not enter to run Normal and Heroic. I don’t know why.
Anyway, all good. I’m focusing on other mounts. Nighthold isn’t that long of run for farming after the event.
