Ian back to being the Ian we know

Just delete Aug. This game can’t have only one support spec.

There he goes, being the game director again. It’s the same logic they have applied to new classes in the past. DKs and DHs both started off hella strong. It builds hype, and gets people to switch to play them. Then they tone things down later. Just imagine them doing the opposite. Releasing a new class or spec that sucks. You think that would go over well?

Its the part where he blames the players that I’m focusing on. This is why Ian should be kept in the background.

His name is Ion, and he’s right. A lot of players look at damage meters and logs, but don’t understand the context behind the numbers.

Well he’s right. If Blizzard releases not only a new spec, but an entirely new type of spec, and it sucks

  1. No one will play it
  2. People will throw literal tantrums about how it sucks and what’s the point of adding it if it’s not viable in endgame content
  3. They will blame Blizzard

So he’s absolutely right to blame the players

Oh right. To be honest I’m fine with that kind of thing as well. He’s not deflecting or anything. He acknowledges their being OP. He’s just being frank about the whole situation.

Honestly I utterly hate the notion that the customer is always right and hate when corporate mouth pieces tiptoe around their feelings. Customers are often terrible.

Nah, I enjoy him.

Players are usually to blame.
Meta exists because of players.
M+ is toxic/exclusive because of players.

Fixed it for you.

But who made the Mythic the level of difficulty it is? oh right…

It was the players who cried about content not being challenging enough

Only the ones who don’t do challenging content.

“All I do is level alts. It’s too easy.”

While Ion is absolutely right in saying the community is skeptical of things they don’t understand, I don’t believe this applies to Aug.

It was Blizzard who changed it. Doesn’t matter if the players whined. They could of not changed it. I also bet Blizzard actually changed it not because of people crying but because if content takes longer to get through it could mean longer sub times, thus more money.

Even people in mythic guilds can barely read logs properly. I remember in HF Citadel we had 6 or 7 guys padding the damage meters by burning cds before the burn phase on the Socrethar add. We kept wiping but the damage meters looked great. They thought I wouldn’t notice when I looked at the logs. Numbers without context is one of the biggest mistakes people can make looking at meters.

Yeah you’re right, the people that only level alts cry about leveling alts being too easy, so Blizzard adds M+ and Mythic raids and suddenly the players who only leveled alts before are Mythic PvE players.

I use to raid with a guild in Legion that would actively kick people from the raid if they were padding meters instead of actually doing the mechanics of the boss.

Bosses died much quicker.

Your guild saved itself a lot of trouble and repair bills.

I mean, you’re not wrong. But people are still going to take the path of least resistance, which leads to people always taking Aug, which leads to the only support spec being mandatory by these people. And all of that was caused by only adding one support spec and going about the buffs the wrong way, imo.

If it’s only going to stay one support spec, it needs deleted or changed into DPS. It’s just not good for the game because of the people.

I don’t think it’s meant to be the only support spec, but these things take time, and it doesn’t make a ton of sense to dump time and effort into transforming or creating a bunch of new specs across multiple classes if the idea ends up not being received well at all.

Start with one, see how it goes, ease people into it, there’s obviously some contention that came with it, questions that need to be answered, learning that needs to be done by the player base AND by the class developers. Can you imagine if they took like 4-5 of the already existing specs in the game and transformed them to support specs right out of the gate along with Augvokers? The forums would have crashed from all the backlash.
