I am really seriously over this dirty soil coloured forum background in the WoW forums. I’m not sure what it is meant to represent…“the down to earth discussion forum”…“where the Horde hang out and the Alliance can just cope”…“we ran out of colour design ideas and just spun a wheel and it landed on brown”.
There are a lot of colours in the spectrum. Can we PLEASE have a colour selection screen for our forum view? Many other discussion sites offer you different skin options, not sure why WoW players get one, and only one, tedious and depressing option.
At the very lease, give me a pink option to match my hair…

I feel like for a while we got different ‘themes’ for the various expansions when they would come out, but yeah it’s been this poopy brown for years now. An option to customize would be nice.

The forums are actually an exceptionally dark yellow, as yellow is the shade of color that does the least damage to your eyes.
The more you know~

This forum is very easy on my eyes, but having options is always a good thing.

In Mulgore we refer to this color and it’s like as the “cow patty” palette.
Personally, I think it’s representative of the devs opinion of what they see on the forums most of the time.

I am special it is black background and white text; to me.
The forum is based on discourse, not sure what version it is on. [1] That would show you what capabilities it has.

The only thing I could find using a search was: can_upload_user_card_background
I have no clue what that means though since I program CNC machines not computers.

The forums used to have different background colors corresponding to the current expansion on live. Few years back it was answered that this particular one was (and still is) the best background color with respect to all the color schemes of text (green mvp, blues, and white), as well as how easy it is on the eyes. Which it is.
And as for where the “brown” is from, it is the World of Warcraft Vanilla brown, from the original packaging of the expansion.
I believe this particular background came into effect for BfA’s release, as it was a more greenish hue during Legion. But since Cataclysm, and the old style forums, it’s been some shade of brown more or less.

I think you’re right. I came back during 7.3 after being gone since Vanilla, and I remember a different background. I don’t recall if it was changed when they moved to the new forums or not though.
This colour of brown is easy on the eyes. If they choose to offer another option, it should also be easy on the eyes.

Well, I was an admin for many years and used Word every day of my working life - which is black text on a white background. Im assuming you can change that but I never did so I spent many years working on black on white and I never suffered from any form of eye stress. Other Blizzard forums have different colours - one is grey I think, and one darker blue. Just would be nice to have an alternative to daggy brown imo.
It’s been this color since WoD, which is fitting cause it kinda makes a good statement on the decline of quality, sadly… it’s an eyesore statement…
Personally, I’d love a nice vibrant…red.
while we’re at it, lets change it so when you comment it doesn’t send you flying to the bottom of the page making you have to scroll back up to find where you were!
