‘We did a bang up job with Scarlet Monastery!’ You know what? They ain’t seen nothing yet!’
So they give like 10 quests for Uldaman and basically have it follow SM… only to find out that no one likes that dungeon and people only do it to get it out of the way.
Or maybe they made so many quests for it BECAUSE it’s the drizzly sh*ts and no one would do it otherwise.
I’ve never undestood why people dislike Uldaman. It has some good loot. A couple of the boss fights have interesting mechanics beyond the usual tank and spank of most vanilla bosses. It’s good for farming leather. It has the map room event. It has the enchanting trainer. It has lore stuff going on. It uses multiple graphics palattes instead of having one constant visual theme everywhere. It has two entrances and it’s non-lineaer, so a lot of it can be skipped if you only care about specific bosses.
As someone who used to hate Uldaman, It has become one of my favorites, not to run repeatedly though.
Uldaman has by far the most quests associated with it, granted it takes some questing to get them all. Once you have all the quests though, its a ton of exp. Add to that the weapons that drop off the final boss are insanely good and will basically take you to 60 unless you pick up an executioner’s axe.
If the level range was 10 levels from start to finish and remained a consistent 42-44 with a 47 end boss, as well as had a better spread of elite mobs instead of the non-elite packs, it would be much better to run multiple times.
Maraudon = This place has tons of beasts and giant stone mobs. It’s also a bit far from flight paths and/or quest hubs. It has some nice areas with running water and a garden at the end.
Uldaman = This place has tons of beasts and giant stone mobs. It’s also a bit far from flight paths and/or quest hubs. Oh, and it’s ugly.
I think I know why Uldaman sucks. It’s…f****** ugly!!!
Apart from the last boss, I honestly cant remember a single boss in that instance because the bosses just blended in with the trash. A loot window would occasionally pop up and I would ask, “wait, is that a world drop or did a boss just die?”
There probably wasn’t a thought process aside from a bunch of Indiana Jones references. It was early in the games life and they were probably just trying to add content.
Personally I like the place, it was one of the long adventure dungeons that wasn’t a short hallway for loot.
