Blizz wasn’t able to balance the covenants. The covenant that I want to be isn’t anywhere near as good as Kyrian for raid prog. I will pick Kyrian and not be able to enjoy cosmetics and aesthetics I like.

If it’s any consolation Pelagos just got nerfed hard. His vers trait got replaced by a magic damage reduction, if what I’m hearing is correct.

Yayyyy I can go Kleia on this toon! I really like the Phial buff you get w/her.
I’ll be real with you chief, if a guild I’m in is prohibiting my playstyle and wants me to go for optimization I’d leave that guild. I play however I want to play, you’re only letting it get to your head that you have to do it whenever it’s completely up to you.

Just play the one you want? do you not already make this tradeoff in talent choices anyway? I know I do. I pick my talent choices based on my personal playstyle…not just throughput.
Would I be left off of mythic raid rosters, most definitely. Do I care? definitely not.
If all you want is the most throughput as possible, then you have to bend to those choices. The odds that aligns perfectly are not high for anyone.

Still gonna go whatever I enjoy. I chose Venthyr before all the changes and I’ll choose it after. How well I play will be much more impactful to my overall DPS.
Sure if you’re pushing high mythic raid it’s a different story. I know I’ve got an unbreakable spot with my guild.

This is confirmed. Pelagos no longer provides the versatility buff that made him top choice for like 15 dps specs.

Only low iq smooth brains follow where ever the meta is.
Go with your heart, go where you want. Leave the meta for the top 1% of players who are actuallu effected.

If your guild is forcing you to stick with only 1 specific covenant for progression, especially when “most” of them have been balanced to the point of you having 2-3 viable options now. then find a better guild.
Mine for example has zero restrictions on covenant choice for the heroic team, and lets the mythic team choose between their top 2 covenants.
IMO with how frequently covenants are likely to be getting rebalanced in the next couple of months, you may be better off choosing your second or third best covenant (or just whatever one you like the most) because almost guaranteed, whichever one is “best” for you right this second, won’t be anymore in a few weeks.

I’ll be real with you chief. No one forced anyone to do anything.
I will do w/e helps my guild kill bosses fastest and what ever is most efficient because I play this game competitively.
Not just cuz I choose to play this game competitively shouldn’t mean I have to sacrifice cosmetics and story RP to be able to do the highiest content.
If you’re in a guild like that and it’s not a week 1 mythic progression guild…they can pound sand.
Otherwise you knew that joining them.
This is one of the benefits of alts. Probably not the answer you’re looking for but it’s something to think about.
