Whenever I’m on Guild Wars 2, Final Fantasy 14, Elder Scrolls Online, and etc They have a much better Day and Night Cycle where pretty much almost every 1 to 2 hours you get to see daylight to nighttime and then goes back to daylight even when on night when you playing the game. So why can’t World of Warcraft out of all the MMOS do this day and nighttime cycle?
I feel like it used to have it… didn’t it?
Hello, I see you posted a thread about day and night cycles. The day and night cycle in Final Fantasy 14 even changes the music in the various cities!
Thanks for your post and have a great day!
Sort of. Night was more pronounced, as I recall, but it wasn’t cycling on fast forward like he mentioned happens in other games.
I agree, though probably not necessarily high on the priority list imo.
Yes and weather. Something magical about classic when it started to rain
What I’d like to see is, during certain times of the day like 6 pm it should be dark for all players, it should go by the in game clock.
I adore FFXIVs weather/ day&night cycles.
I really wish they would make night time darker so it actually looks like night time.
I mean we dont need it so dark players cant see. But it should be a lot darker than
it is now.
I’m personally not a fan of hypercycling in MMOs, feels weird to me.
What I’d like to see is for time of day to follow your computer’s time rather than server time, because with CRZ you often get thrown into shards that are multiple hours ahead or behind your own time zone, which can result in the impression of weakened night (e.g. an EST player getting tossed into PST shards frequently isn’t going to see full night most evenings).
It would be nice if they cut the day / night cycle to 6 hours each and for at least an hour each night we got the old night back.
but it’ll never happen.
I wish I could choose whichever cycle I wanted to play without potions or toys that are convoluted. There should be options within the accessibility. Simply have the normal cycle and the racials that coincide be on the normal cycle. But allow us to choose what we wish to experience.
I can’t figure out how Oribos has one with no obvious light source.
Yet Bastion, which seems to have a sun, requires Inky Black Potion, or Photoshop for nights and sunsets.
I think for the Shadowlands zones they were pushing aesthetic above all else, and constant daytime was supposed to be a big part of the Bastion aesthetic.
It’s not a design decision I agree with but that’s what I believe happened.
I prefer a NORMAL day night cycle. It is off putting to have it switch between the two constantly. Probably why I like WoW in that regard. At least the days make sense. I just wish the night was darker.
I actually enjoy the fact in wow, that I can log on in the evening and it’s also evening in wow, that it makes wow feel more like the real world, unlike in other games where it just gets confusing…
I’d prefer the night/day cycle to stay the same in wow.
Best thing? Is when New Years happens…oh my god, I should so be on wow this new years, as at least it will be night time…
I LOVE Valheim’s day/ night cycle. Nights are darker, more mobs spawn, and it’s earie and nerve-wracking! A real endorphin hit, forcing that fight or flight response!
I’d love to see WoW nights creepy and dark.
Valheim also has extreme random weather patterns, which I’d love to see in WoW.
The other nice thing about day/night being matched to your locality is that if you log in at night you’re not gonna get blinded (unless you happen to need to visit Bastion of course). It’s also a bit easier for me to relax when playing in the evening when it’s night in-game.
Yeah I agree, when on Azeroth it’s actually quite pleasant, I remember being in Mulgore at night time both here and in the real world and it just felt…right
I miss the rain:(
