I wish they would tune Margave Stradama Infectious Rain

I’m going for 3k IO and PF is the last dungeon I need a +20 for tyrannical. Obviously dungeons vary in which parts are difficult. However I can say with some confidence that this is the hardest tyrannical boss at +20.

This may change when people get into much bigger keys. Apparently ToP is wild when you get into the top keys done in the world. But the discrepancy between this boss and every other dungeon boss at this key level is very apparent.

They have been nerfing some bosses recently, and I’m not sure why they haven’t touched this boss. The infectious rain is just impossible to heal through if your DPS aren’t incredibly good at single target.

At the very least they could lower the duration of the DoT. Nerf please.

The reason it feels hard is because DPS don’t take care of themselves. You cannot be expected to heal everyone with a staggering 4 stack multiple times during multiple phases on a higher tyrannical PF. Players need to rotate their clears (disease dispels, kyrian phials, racials, immunities ect) and communicate with you, the healer so you don’t dispel a guy after he hits his clear. It’s tricky without voice, but I would recommend you map it out before the pull.
“Urh heal the first wave, I’ll link the second, hero the third wave m, personals in the fourth, lock stones and health pots on the 5th” ect. I also recommend dispelling the de buff at 2-3 stacks. By the time you wait for 4, it may be too late. Stay calm, avoid tentacles, and slow the fight down in your mind. Practice makes perfect, it’s just repetitions.

Keep in mind there is also only
So much you can do as a healer. Uninformed players will blame you, but so goes the life. The irony is, the higher the PF actually gets, the smoother that encounter goes, because the player skill and awareness increases.

Don’t you need to be monk to dispell the disease?

Holy priests can use purify on a player ( 8 second cd) mass dispell doesnt clear it

As a shaman you have plenty of tools to deal with this boss. First phase the uhr buff will pretty much carry you, you can still tide and astral shift yourself. For the second you have bloodlust so it should phase rather quick, and for the last one you have all your big cds, plus your astral shift should be back and you should phial yourself to cleanse the dot.

Paladin, monk, and priests can dispel it.

It also means if you have a tank or dps of that class they should be dispelling themselves.

I think this is the issue. The groups I’m in are getting so many rain casts that I end up OOM. I think a lot has to do with phasing the boss in time.

The damage is so high that I only have enough mana for 4-5 rains, including using a spiritual clarity pot.

Monk or paladin yes, if you don’t have those classes in your comp, all the more realities coordinate personals, DRs and health pots

Also, on a 20, the group should be focusing the URH>BOSS>BIG ADD. Next phase they should focus the boss and cleave OFF of the boss. If they are forcing damage into the big add it extends the phase causing more big adds to spawn and more cycles of rain ect. The passive cleave should be enough to kill the big add at that key level. If it’s not phasing fast enough then it is out of your control and the group just doesn’t have the mustard for the frankfurter.

As mentioned its all in rotating healing cds and personal cds/ externals. I haven’t done this at 20 yet this season but did it at a 21 last season and remember this boss single handedly deleting the key. It’s not so bad when you’re in voice but i don’t see how pugs do it.

on my brewmaster i just cleanse the healer and eat the dot myself. i can heal through it (disclaimer: I’m not doing 25s or whatever) and that lets the healer just focus on the dps who believe there’s an ancient and powerful curse on using personals.

i think even darkness helps out

the mast of the House of Plagues will likely release a pretty strong plague…

Sure, but it’s 50% chance to be missed. I was listing huge reductions. Dispersion, for example, is 75% reduced damage taken. Shield of Vengeance should nearly full absorb it and reflect the damage back when it blows up.

oh yeah, i would never rely on it by itself. more of an “if you have nothing else”

Did a 21 just an hour ago and it was insane, their was def 5+ rains involved and it felt like all i did was go oom, used everything possible that i had and last 2% tank was all alone, i felt like nobody used any kind of defense or pots or anything and expected me to force heal through all that. Boss def need a nerf because how many pugs are in voice? After 20+ that boss is just ridiculous

Seems like the DPS and tank need to use defensives wisely then.

As other posters have said, this isn’t a problem with the boss being overtuned, but a problem with bad pugs.

First is covered by Urh, Lust should cover at least one of them and the rest should be covered between healer cd’s and dps personals. I feel like if you see more than 6 casts, your dps was terrible. If your dps is good enough you might even only see 3 or 4.

Im yet to see less then 5 on a 20 or 21, and seems most pugs don’t set up grp correctly either with things like amz or darkness, but you’re probably right about the dps and people using mitigations because its been god awful for me on 20-21, thankfully im done with that place now, got my 3k on both my healers, idc anymore about that dungeon lol

Margrave probably more than any other boss requires careful planning of your CDs. Fortunately, shammy has a lot of big CDs to use. The last phase is the toughest because all the mechanics overlap. You pretty much need to have ascendance and spirit walkers for that phase. Ideally you will have healing tide available as well but that’s not always possible.

You’re on a short timer during that phase because no healer can heal that indefinitely. If your dps can’t end it in a reasonable amount of time you’re just gonna wipe and there’s not much you can do. All you can do is put yourself in the best position to heal as much as you can. One thing I would do is take earthshield off the tank and put it on the squishiest person, usually the hunter. That will heal them more and also increase your heals on them. Make sure you blanket riptides before the rain goes out to give everyone 10% extra hp from ancestral vigor or w/e it’s called. Also, in the middle of the fight don’t forget to throw down your mana tide. That will throw out a free chain heal while also allowing you to heal one of the rains without using much mana. Another thing is don’t use your earth ele at the start of the fight. Wait at least until the 2nd phase. If Uhr is killed in time for the first rain then you’re fine, or if it’s not, you can still blast and OOM yourself because uhr will refill your mana. You want the HP bonus of your ele later in the fight. The timing of the fight varies depending on your damage, but you should always be able to astral shift the 1st or 2nd rain and have it back up for the last phase.

EDIT: another thing you can do to make it easier is switch up your conduits. I forget what it’s called but in the middle of the tree of mikanikos you can take the left side to get a 3rd potency and use the healing rain one. That will make healing one of the rains easier while also help reduce your mana consumption for one of the rains.

2nd EDIT: This won’t be the deciding factor on a 20-21, but I notice you’re running pretty low vers. 15% vers / 31% crit is a little imbalanced imo. I’d ease up on the crit and stack some more vers. You’re healing surges are going to probably crit anyway from the tidal wave buff even with much lower crit. I think I have like 24% vers and 20% crit on my shaman…or something like that.
