Why not just make every dungeon RFC then, every dungeon exactly the same and only change the name of the mobs.
If the only thing that matters is loot, what’s it matter how we get there.
The dungeons being different and being able to choose how you path through a dungeon is what sets WoW apart.

You don’t really need to do that.
Wow can do two things if it wants to keep this format. Make trash mobs can drop something worth killing for, or just cut them back.
Every dungeon in wow players just look for ways to exploit how to do it fastest, what is the best way to not do tedious part of it, and go straight for the goal, and they expect all tanks to learn this as well.
It is just bad design imo.
Dungeons mobs do drop trash items.
Mythic 0 boes are highly valued first few weeks.
It’s only m+ that doesn’t have trash mob loot.

FFXIV dungeons stop being an experience after you do them like…twice. At least wow’s dungeons try to stay fresh with affixes and multiple pathways.

I mean sure, but I’m saying for it to keep up with expansion life span, either update the boes or add a system that they can be upgraded. Lets say a sword drops low item level mid expansion, and another one drops. You can combine them to make it better item level quality for the patch you are on. (what would be the normal.)
Tons of things you can do with the item drops.
My point being is, if we always try to find flaws in the dungeon designs, and skips of trash mobs. What makes that any better than having just two sets of trash and a boss?
I mean I heard FF14 has a new dungeon system that made it much harder, and it is still respectful to players time with the trash design.
I don’t know, when I see wow dungeons, I know what to expect also. Tons of trash mobs and look for targett acaster to stop a deadly cast. It is not that ground breaking.

I’m talking about how they design dungeon itself. Way less trash pulls.
Ffxiv dungeons
- must kill 100% of trash before boss door opens
- trash does not drop loot
- 100% linear design
Wow heroic/mythic0
- can skip as much trash as possible
- trash does drop epic quality loot
- multiple paths/options for design

Wow is.
Because needing to kill two sets of adds is small compare to what wow has with the skip.
Wow is the bigger waste of time, even the developers said that they know this, that they design the game not to respect players time. They are hoping to change it.
Did they? Prob not, but i hope going forward, they work on it.
You realize both ffxiv and wow dungeons take approximately the same amount of time when comparing similar difficulties.
Ffxiv dungeon - 10 min
Wow heroic dungeon - 10 min.
The only difference here now is that WoW trash does drop loot and ffxiv doesn’t.
Imo ffxiv also feels extremely bare and empty inside dungeons. Like, this is supposed to be a dangerous place we are pushing through and each mob pack is like 50 yd apart.
Wow dungeons feel full and alive, like it’s an actual place. They fill them with mobs but give you option to skip them.
Edit: don’t get me wrong, ff has amazing raids, savage raids were super fun. But their dungeons have 0 replay value. One of the main reasons I came back to wow. No one would do ff dungeons for “fun” but wow dungeons are super fun imo.

Sounds like you’re just saying that simplifying the game = better. I would prefer we not go down that road. By your description, every dungeon is the exact same with a different coat of paint. I love it when things go wrong, because you get to pump big heals and it becomes a challenge. What you describe seems the opposite of fun.
The layout is the same with a few spices of life. Like bouncing and such. Looks wise it changes it up.
Final Fantasy impact comes from the visual, boss design, and music. Than how many trash mobs, and how to get to the boss.
I like Final Fantasy way better. It is straight forward, and the boss fights are more fun.
I wish the combat was better though, as the tick rate is bad.
Ff14’s horribly lackluster instanced content is the number one reason I came back to wow. WoW’s dungeon design is infinitely superior.

I consider XIV my main MMO, but I don’t really like the dungeon design there. The trash mobs take a lot longer to die than they do in WoW, so it just feels like a chore. I like the fast paced dungeons of WoW much more.

WoW and FF14 are two very different games.
FF14 is an MMORPG with emphasis on the RPG aspect and on telling a competent story and telling it well.
In FF14 the Dungeon is not the content. The Story is the content. The Dungeon is there to bring a group together to experience the content, but not to waste their time or to bog them down in mechanics and grinds. They do amazing work on the visuals and the music and on connecting the dungeon to the story so that your first run through the dungeon is an Experience with a capital E. Subsequent, they understand, are not about repeating that experience but getting that reward at the end and the dungeons are designed with that in mind.
WoW is an MMODR. Massively Multiplayer Online Dungeon Runner. The Story isn’t even a tertiary consideration, and calling it an RPG is laughable. The dungeon is the content. Everything in WoW Revolves around the Dungeon and the Raid and running and grinding them over and over.
Which is why you have inconsistent levels of trash before encounters. Differing mechanics that switch out from week to week with Mythic+. Significant dungeon-specific rewards. WoW is all about being inside the dungeon and running the dungeon for the dungeon’s sake.

FF14 is a terrible game that’s overhyped because all the Anime lovers really WANT to like it. It’s monotonous and the combat system is about as interesting as a wet carrot. None of the jobs I played were even remotely engaging. The main story that you are forced to complete, for some idiotic reason, is also just boring and insanely long for no reason. I put maybe 50 hours into FF14 and will never go back because the game is awful. You being on the WoW forums to talk about how good it is while saying WoW is bad is very revealing though. Your life must be so fulfilling.

I hate pulling wall to wall in FFXIV. I like the dungeon boss fights, but how they handle trash packs in between boss fights makes me absolutely hate it. Also the design of their dungeons are so uninspired and they become hallways faster than memorable dungeons.
