I wish there was a dev that understood warlock

Now, however, it feels like Destruction is a jack of all trades, master of none. We still don’t have a good damage profile for most packs of mobs in M+, and with having to choose between Cataclysm and Inferno we either have to manually apply Immolate/Wither and have an AoE spender that actually does damage, or have the convenience of applying our DoTs all at once, but at the cost of having an AoE spender that hits like a squeaky toy.

You know, maybe I have an unpopular opinion here, but I think every pure dps class should have a spec that’s “generic” or “jack of all trades”. My issue, is that they’ve been on the fence with warlock for ages now, and destro just blows in comparison to other easier specs like frost mage, bm hunter, assassination, which are all super straightforward and easy to play specs that hand-hold your dps and have a ton of quality of life.

Here’s what I said a while back in another thread that I still believe would do some short-term work for making destro feel better.

If Destro was built like frost mage/bm

1. Rain of fire would be a debuff applied to a target that slowly drained your soul shards, but followed your target around instead of being a placed ability.
2. Cataclysm would have a lower cooldown, and serve as purely an aoe immolate.
3. Fire and Brimstone would be a lot more of your passive cleave damage. Think hitting splitting ice
4. You wouldn’t have to choose between chaos bolting in single target vs rof in multi-target. With rof being a toggle, you’d just hit chaos bolt and be fine with doing it. It opens up globals.
5. Havoc would be your main multi-target “cd” where you do significant burst to multiple targets when it is up. You can even make bane of havoc a pve talent to make mayhem cooler in m+
6. Less button bloat (rift is no longer a used ability, and is passively procced for instance)
7. Movement is not as crippling (multiple ways to do this, I’ve literally been one of the biggest pushers of KJC for multiple years on the forums for instance).
