I will never tank for another pug!

when i was level 31 i started tanking pug groups in gnomergon. i did so until level 35. no other questing or grinding just doing that dungeon over and over. three times my manual crowd pummeler dropped. three times i had it stolen from me despite reserving it ahead of time. to top it all off i had a nice agility/doge neck piece get sniped from me by a mage of all things!

tonight me and my guild cleared BRD for the first time. we had my wardens staff drop off a random mob during the run. they gave it to me with no complaints and congratulated me for getting it. Never in my life had i had so many emotions tied to a single piece of gear. my thoughts soon wondered to “what if this had been a pug group?”. i was reminded of those gnomer groups and the horrifying image of a bunch of selfish randos rolling need on my BOE pre raid BIS with out a second thought or care flooded my mind!

I will never tank for another pug! To any tanks out there trying to get geared for raids please do yourselves a favor and find a friendly guild to get your gear. let the rondos rot in trade chat!

Was your name on the drop? Did you tell the group before starting the dungeon that it “belonged” to you? No? You failed. Move on.

Nobody stole anything from you. You weren’t wronged. You’re not a victim. For the love of God grow a pair and accept what happened.

This is very annoying and I hate that pug groups are doing it for ubrs. I see the same groups spamming LFG for hours because people don’t want to join a reserved run.

yes i did and they agreed. they didn’t keep that agreement.

Then never group with them again. It’s pretty straight forward. Don’t cry, don’t whine, and most importantly: never let them see you lose your cool.

Take it from me tanking pugs isn’t worth it find a group of friends

Hell playing this game in general is hardly worth it :joy:

Need to know the whole story beforehand and what not as it seems kind of cloudy here. I have rarely been in groups that even strangers were not cool about loot; sure every once in a while you get someone that needs stuff they don’t need or whatever.

The only issue with your post that stands out is it simply scream “me me me” and that you seem to have some challenges with anyone who might actually get in the way of your loot “gravy train”…

I guess perhaps I have been lucky in my pugs with cool people

it only takes one selfish person to ruin your day.

I don’t have high hopes for most strangers on the internet so the threshold of disappointment is quite high haha

can you blame them though? Its hard enough sometimes to get the gear you need to drop. it feels real bad when you lose it to someone who rolled on it for their off spec.

Isn’t there a “Master loot” option?

I haven’t paid attention to group changes in Classic but if there is, and you reserve something in a PUG, you should always turn it on AT LEAST for the boss you want.

This is The Hunger Games point of WoW.

Lol a druid that thinks he will tank. So you know no one stole items in gnomer from you. People need to save for the mount in the 30s.

Well the silver lining here is that once you start getting raid geared you can start charging people like that for your tanking services. They will still struggling to get pre-bis, but their behavior has driven most tanks out of pugs.

your suppose to out level the place before you go farming 30+ MCP for your dps cds. also don’t take anyone for those runs to ensure its all your loot.

in general everyone is still leveling. yes an agility neck can be an upgrade for a mage. especially if they have no neck item in slot. everyone uses all the stats to varying degrees. even a Warrior can make use of spirit. so in pug rules, loot is a free for all. however, nice people wont treat the group like a pug and will determine if there are others who need the item more before rolling on it. like everyone always rolls greed unless they can really make use of the item in question.

Well ya know the whole diamond in the rough thing? When it hits the fan with friends and guild, just like normal everyday pugging is when you are tested by fire and skill, knowledge, and just the best of you is developed.
Without those moments, you gain some inner peace but will never reach the top tier of what you can do and be as a tank.
Dont give up!
And for the MCP, you notice things come around? You gave of yourself to a group that didnt return the same yet what you felt you lost in the MCP, you got back 100xs with the Warden Staff.
Tank on my friend, tank on!!

Not saying you can’t be mad you didn’t get it, but telling people that loot is “Reserved” in a lowbie dungeon like Gnomer…really?

GNOMER loot. Reserved. Gear you’re gonna replace in a few levels. That’s reserved. Mmkay,

Anyway, nobody is taking anything from you, it was never yours.

Loot you never had isn’t “yours” just because you said it was. I can already see why people aren’t working with you in a group,

Imposing a made-up “reserve” on lowbie loot is really petty, you obviously think you’re above others in a group and that your time or contribution is somehow more valuable. It isn’t.

Seems like there’s 2 sides to this story, and I’m gonna go ahead and say you probably had an attitude with these groups so they didn’t respect your wishes.

Random people aren’t morally bankrupt, but you can inspire them to do ignorant things by talking down to them or being condescending. I bet that’s what happened, like 90% sure.

Put together a group that contains no members who can equip a 2 handed mace.

You can reserve something? Is it a mod or a function I am totally unaware of existing in the game? Never knew there was such a mechanism in the game!

No. You tell people you are reserving it and they aren’t supposed to roll on it.

Good luck with that.
