Just wait for dungeons to be so easy that tanks just run by themselves and don’t even need dps or healers /s
Don’t blame you. Personally when I tank I’ll just roll on the damage items I want too. If people don’t like it, they can find a new tank. This is how we got our items in classic. If we had to go as damage to get damage items we’d never get our stuff.
The difference between classic and tbc/wrath is that duel spec exists. I know I didn’t care about off set till this phase of tbc because I just won’t spend 100 gold to do a dungeon/heroic to spec to tank then back to DPS.
I can now at launch form groups (will probably do it with heroics only) consisting of casters and not worry about overlapping my own gear. Rip melee DPS till I have all my gear.

you can basically say people will 100% find a way around it, but if i said that he might have retaliated telling me there’s no way i could know that blah blah… so i just tread water.
I know full well people always work gnarly crap out, i’ve used all of the gnarly crap to level as fast as humanly possible myself!
It’s been that way for 3 years already, why complain now?

I did a heroic on the beta yesterday, doubt you even need 5 ppl. A blood dk could prob do them without a healer. I doubt there is gonna be gate keeping for heroics. They are easier than doing ramps with a group of 60+s
No they won’t. In addition to making mage boosting impossible, they also changed it so that if there’s a large disparity between player levels in the group, EXP gains are greatly reduced. No way to get around that.
Imagine thinking you’re the only tank when there’s going to be 80000 death knights trying to find groups lol. Good luck with that attitude.

Don’t forget how fun its going to be trying to gear up in heroics and only being able to do them once a day without the RDF (which removed the lockout). Have fun farming gear and JP! Guess that’s just extra time to make friends and revel in the social experience amirite?

and I will take the first three dps and any healer I can find. We will clear the place in 20 minutes and then I will start again.
So does that mean in TBC you just take the first 3 dps that whisper you?
I highly doubt it.
So this means nothing will actually change in the way you form groups.
The new tool is NOT going to change how tanks build their groups as people already directly or indirectly reserve items they’re after. Ever seen groups stating that Quag’s Eye is reserved? Ever been in a Slave Pens with 1 caster and the rest melee?
So what exactly is changing?

Not on the same dungeon you won’t! No RDF means daily lockouts on Heroics.

Keep in mind though that while there are people who think like you do, there are a lot of people who don’t. For example, the way you build groups in WotLK parallels the method you use to build groups for M+ in retail. It’s entirely possible to game that system in your favour (class stacking, meta builds), and there are people who do that.
But there are also many, many more people who just want to play the game and don’t really care. They invite whoever reasonably meets the group criteria and move on. So much so that I’m not terribly worried about finding groups outside of normal class balance considerations.

Prot warriors have not been taking dps warriors with them for years in order to get fury pieces. As a tank you have always been able to be picky about what comes in your dungeon groups. RDF isn’t really going to change that. It would be a jerk move, but tanks in a RDF group could just refuse to pull if another plate class in in their group unless they are kicked. It has happened before and will happen if RDF gets added.
