I really enjoyed wow in general starting from 2007 on and off and through part of shadowlands say to 2021.
I feel like some changes were made just after BFA which I didn’t like as I felt they went against lore. Like how void elves (should be mostly former blood elves since they are a small faction from mostly Silvermoon that were altered by the void) to other changes that seemed to be put in a way that made this game world seem less true.
Again (against lore or what I call pre-established fictional foundations).
It was getting to the point, where the fantasy game world I so much enjoyed for a long period of time just seemed more and more shallow, where pretty much all I was logging in to do anymore was mythics.
However, even with mythics, playing as a tank. More than 50% let’s say I ran into groups that either quit on me part way (so wasting everyone’s time); or just being nasty to me in some way.
So at this point in my wow appreciation I went from “really enjoying this rpg” to barely playing to now almost hating this entire game.
So, despite the fact that I still have approximately two more years of game time, I find I can’t stand to play this game anymore so I think I am quitting for good.
I just wanted to say that I met some of you in this game and some of those I met were respectful to me and I wish you well in life.
It sadden’s me in a way that I have gone from one extreme (truly enjoying wow for the most part) to almost hating this game, but it is what it is.
At least I found an old new mmo again that I truly seem to be enjoying.
You take care now.

I go in phases of liking the game and having fun to despising it and wondering why I bother. Currently just bothered by it, not hyped at all for DF etc. I’ll probably try it and like it once it’s out but, idk.

Why? I don’t see this often.

We go fight the jailers mom in outer space with lasers next xpac pew pew!!
I go through cycles too. Some days I’m stoked to level something but most days I just sit and stare at the WoW icon before clicking something else.

This must be an extremely common thread with legacy gamers…they despise current WoW and flock to classic MMOs that only other legacy gamers play. It must be an age thing.

I have to ask, is this a “Preach quit” or a real quit?

It’s okay to grow out of a game. It’s okay to not play every season/tier. Play whatever you enjoy, there are way too many good games out there for any game to demand all your time.
I am curious which old game you went to though.
You can’t expect playing a game for years to be new and fresh.

Maybe he’s just really bad.
This needed to be said why exactly?

Same reason anything in this cesspool needs to be said, I guess?
I can’t help but love WoW despite it’s flaws. Playing any other game reminds me of that. I did have to accept that the lore is truly awful and they have disgraced everything I loved about it up to 2010.
I agree with the sentiment I am just now starting to play again, but now with my son and we switched to a RP server since I hear people are more pleasant there. We will see how it goes, when you come back consider RP.

For a near 20 year old game (that I’ve been playing for nearly as long) I don’t see how anyone could NOT have “phases” in terms with liking or not liking a game that long.
I think it’s only natural.
In 17 years I’ve taken a half dozen breaks lasting at least a month and the longest being just over a year.
Some breaks were based on practically like one when I had surgery I didn’t play for months. But most of the others was I felt burned out on the game and it was boring and uninteresting to me.
It happens, usually I step away for a time and I come back and it’s fun again for a while.
New expansions I generally always look forward to just on the basis of “at least it’s new stuff”.

Am I the only one who’s hung up on this…? Did I read that as it was intended? Did you just wake up one morning and decide “I think I’ll throw a bunch of money away and sub for the next few years right now.”…?
I figured it was throwing gold at tokens and didn’t think anything more about it. That’s how most people with mass time on their accounts got it.
Your response is the closet to how I feel about present wow, yes.
