I went back to Retail

I made a mistake and rolled on an RPPVP server thinking it would be equal parts both. Well, its 99% PVP and 1% RP since Phase 2. I also messed up and didnt get to 60 before Phase 2. So now leveling is very difficult. It is my fault, I get it. I am not going to reroll and spend days played on Classic to get back to where I left off.

So I have put my Classic characters on ice until things calm down, if they ever do. I went to a newish server in Retail and am playing there. It’s strange to feel so powerful and to have so many options. I don’t know that I like it more but I feel more powerful and its more peaceful thats for sure! I probably should cancel, and I may do that, but for now Classic is on ice for me.

Let me save time for those with a few of the popular copy/paste responses:

“Can I have your stuff”
No

“PVP happened on a PVP server”
Yep

“You should have known”
Yep

“You are a retail carebear”
Maybe, time will tell if I stay there

“Bye”
Bye

“No one cares”
True

This phase particularly sucks for RP realms since everyone forgot the RP part.

You’re level 31, that’s not even days played. Hope you’re having fun on retail! Sounds like you’re not though, since you were still salty enough to make the 500th whine post on the forum.

Its 3 days played actually. And I have a few 30s. I did it “wrong”. And I have 100g. Not alot but enough I am not about to start from scratch on a new Classic server. Its been hard earned, for me.

Yet you still posted.

Do you actually enjoy Retail?

You can quit if you want, that’s fine, I just don’t understand why anyone would want to play BFA right now.

Just rolled a Pally on Deviate Delight. I’ll let you guys know how it goes.

I just want others to know there are still options to enjoy the game I guess. I felt pretty defeated and alone because of all the powerful PVP players posting. I really wanted to love Classic, and I would have if in the opening day rush I hadnt chosen the wrong server.

You really do not need to justify your played time to random strangers on the internet. Give retail a try and honestly play it with an open mind. I would advise you to quest instead of doing dungeons since some of the quest chains can be very amusing. I would also check out the panda early zone which is the best starting area in my opinion.

Im not playing BFA…well I am I guess? But I am starting over as Horde (new to to me) at level 1 on Retail.

Er… that showed’em.

Beat ya so hard at Classic they made you go back to Retail as Horde x.x;

So glad I didn’t choose the Glob server then. Because i was torn between RP and RP-PvP and ultimately went with RP. I just didn’t wanna risk it and I guess that was a good call on my part.

I made that mistake mistake before, so I rolled a PVE realm. When P2 hit, it was impossible to level. I don’t think I killed one mob before I switched to PVE. I went back to PVP servers eventually, but not until wrath.

Thanks for the validation, and yes I think you chose wisely. It was fine before Phase 2. A few ganks here and there, nothing I couldnt handle. But its a brave new world now!

if you’re rushing it’s not. But if you choose to take your time, enjoy the lore, do professions, etc, it certainly can be.

I chose to reroll for now because of the phase 2 gankfest, actually about a week before the phase 2 gankfest began. When I start a new toon on a new server, I take the time to do cooking, fishing. I farm leather to make money. I keep my professions at my level so I can make relevant gear when I can’t find or get quest rewards, especially on a lower pop server. When I’m 35+ on any of my alts/new server, I usually have 2-3+ days played. So on my new PvE 28 warlock, I have 2 days and some hours played.

Edit: @OP I get it, it sucks to have to reroll, but that’s what I did and that’s throwing away 10 or so days played since launch. I’m happier now knowing that arriving at Searing Gorge, the raid of ganksquad can’t touch me if I don’t want and I should be able to quest in peace. I’m also enjoying the lore more, which seems like it would interest someone that likes to RP, not having to look over my shoulder in every zone since I’ve left The Barrens. Not only that, there are people all day in the LFG channel spamming “LFG PvP TM” as an example, so forming groups to have epic WPvP battles, if you feel like you’re missing out on a PvE server.

And who knows, down the line maybe you will pick up this character again once the gankfest calms down. I know I’ll try again in a few weeks.

haha idk why it’s the way it is these days where groups of horde are running all over the continent killing everyone on the opposite faction they can. It wasn’t like that back then. It’s just toxic people are going to do toxic things. And the majority of the people that play these days are toxic so…

Well if you ever want a peaceful server then I would heartily recommend the Bloodsail RP server. The alliance side is PACKED. Stormwind is bustling even at 4am EST and there is a good mix of RPers and just for funners.

Probably the most laid back server I have been on since I mained a Hunter on Moonguard.

Just curious but what do you think will happen when the minority faction on a server either rerolls to the majority faction/another server or just stop playing all together and BGs still haven’t been implemented?
Will other aspects of the game be impacted in addition to PVP ? ( For instance the economy)

Ignore the people who always feel the need to come to these posts and be insulting. You can share whatever thoughts you like.

If you liked Classic prior to Phase 2, maybe after a break try again on a PVE server. PVP does still happen on PVE servers, you just get more of a say on when. I’m sure there are still some good RP guilds out there.

In the meantime, enjoy retail
