I thought I wanted vanilla wow. I was wrong. I admit fault. My nostalgia of vanilla was for the golden age of that time period. For the dungeons, progression and social/communal aspect that wow brought. For not knowing the most efficient ways to do things and for just having fun with what was in front of me. And after that BC came along and balanced pvp and made a lot of changes (arena etc) that made the end game feel satisfying and more complete.
I reached end game during BC and so I had a constant sense of progression through vanilla. Classic wow feels incomplete and I think it will feel that way until a real end game is around. For me for that is meaningful pvp. I understand many players donāt get fulfilled by that sort of thing and that a significant end game experience is different for everyone, but pvp has always been my end game solution to mmoās. I get to hone my skills, put into play what Iāve been working on and continue to progress through being the best pvp competitor I can be.
Classic wow feels pretty dead to me lately after maxing my 60. I will wait until bgs release to make a final decision, but this may be my last months.
Iām sure many will say good riddance but I just wanted to voice my opinion here cause thatās what you do. no hate either way, classic can and will be awesome to many, iām just not one of those players. It is not complete to me.
I like Classic but it wonāt be complete for me until BC is released tbh.
BC really complimented Vanilla as a whole and made the game perfect.
Thatās why iām just chillin for now, iām sure youāll be back when they release it.
I like this post, because itās something Iāve been feeling lately. Despite playing since ā05, I didnāt actually cap till the cap was 80, yet still waxed poetic about the glory of Vanilla.
While I maintain that everything Iāve ever felt or said about Vanilla is 100% honest and accurate, now that Iām a little older and wiser, Iām starting to see some holes in my logic.
That being said, I have no intention of ever quitting Classic, and will find ways to make my own fun in the game. Battle grounds, ganking lowbies and helping the less fortunate are all activities that are devoid of diminishing returns for me. I only worry that Classic wonāt draw in any fresh population.
If every low player is a guilded up alt that: a.) has a plethora of options to dealing with your griefing - and/or - b.) doesnāt really need or appreciate you taking the time to help them, thereās not a lot of gratification to be had.
Iāve been wanting this to happen since I quit for the second time in BC, but it feels like something thatās just bitter sweet unsustainable. For me, anyway.
Classic will draw in a lot of new players. Many were to young to play vanilla but heard the stories and will try it and get sucked in. Ran with a whole group of people who were new to classic and had fun in deadmines
I am having a blast because I was horde back in the day and never experienced it on ally side. So itās kind of new for me too.
Ill definitely be back when/if they do bc. Im still here until bgs turn out. If theyre bad and im unfullfilled than that will be that. Theres some things that could happen that could really screw bgs. But i will give it a shot until then.
I still applaud everyone working to make classic into the vanilla experience because that is worth it. Its just harder than i think a lot realise. #Nochanges will not give us a better experience, nor will completely altering the game, but everything has to be put under consideration of āwhat will be best for the health of preserving the vanilla essence.ā Imo anyways.
I guess people want what they donāt have. People have been begging for vanilla since WOTLK. We got classic, now people want BC. I say they wonāt release BC. The top private server wasnāt a BC server, it was vanilla.
I have a ton of fun. Iāve networked like crazy and get tons of folks greeting me when I log in. The world feels huge but still small enough that I can pretty much set out to do something on a given day and have a goal to work toward. Ironically, the huge amount of things to do in retail actually overwhelmed me, and with ADHD like I have, Iād shut down and not do anything. In addition, the things I can do in Classic, actually feel worthwhile to me.
Itās not for everyone but for the people it works for, it seems to REALLY work for.
Classic WoW is a joke compared to modern games, retail included. You log in and you have 2 choices: go grind the same mobs over and over or spam LFG chat for a group to run a instance.
