TLDR "The end-result of removing RDF for 1-60 lvling is actually the exact OPPOSITE of what Blizzard were hoping to achieve. Instead of running instances and engaging with other players everyone is just running the same quests they have run 50 times before.
I could care less about RDF for higher (post Vanilla) levels and still don’t necessarily agree with x-server matching… but I have to admit that as I’m leveling a fresh character the experience is significantly worse than it would be with RDF.
There are big chunks of content I just wont see because the instances are too far out of the way to be worth running to as a low level character without an epic, or in some cases a mount period. That means that the MAJORITY of the leveling instances will just be ignored by most people while leveling, and that’s really a shame.
And what’s worse is the end-result is actually the exact OPPOSITE of what they were hoping to achieve. Instead of running instances and engaging with other players I’m mostly just running the same quests I’ve run 50 times before.
Now once you get into TBC content and on zones are structured better and it’s really a non-issue… but if they insist on using the LFG BB they’ve got to find some way to make accessing these instances, and thus engaging in group content while leveling, easier. Especially because I know it gets better. But potential new players wont. They’ll hop in, see the same boring quests they’ve seen in 30 other games by now and won’t get to TBC content… Where instead you could be hooking them on RFC and introducing them to group content (where Wow really shines imo) as early as level 10. And btw dungeons aren’t even available as an option in the current BB until like level 17 or so, so I’m not sure how horde even find groups for RFC.
Anyway… no RDF doesn’t just make the leveling process worse… it makes it worse AS A SOCIAL GAME. Exactly what they’re trying to push. Be it a portal to the instances or whatever they need to do something. It’s a shame to waste some pretty decent content WHILE making the game less accessible to new players and just generally creating a worse gaming experience…
Well I guess people with names like Monkeyfonics weren’t my target audience. I’ll work on the sock puppet version but its laundry day so you might have to wait. Sorry.
I’d be fine with it going til 80 as long as it’s normal dungeons only.
Id be fine with x-server but only for normal dungeons.
100% why i can agree that RDF being implemented should only be for this specific reason to get people to 80 faster and easier. After that leave heroics / raids to LFG. After all, it’s the place it really is needed 90+%
Yea. Out of the way… I’m not likely to journey deep into Orgrimmar as a level 10 alliance. Probably not hitting SFK in Silverpine at 20 either… and even RFD is a bit of a stretch by 40… And even if I was so inclined… they’re hard enough to get to that its unlikely you’re going to get a group of 5 together consistently enough to make bother queuing.
All of which you already know to be true but you’re hard-stuck with your head in the sand.
I’m sorry you couldn’t read the post. Hooked on Phonics didn’t work for everyone, and that’s ok… I’ll work on being more accessible in the future.
PS: I have 6k+ posts (dozens of which argued against RDF.) Its unlikely I created this character just to randomly agree with myself but… cool story?
A: This is Wrath. It was literally designed around that sort of thing. See: The MANY quest improvements.
B: Explain to me how I’m supposed to run RFC as a level 10. Explain to me how, even if I can, how a new player is going to figure that out. Exactly. ESPECIALLY since you can’t even see dungeons with the current Group Finder until level 15…
Get your head out of the sand. You too can grow and admit you were wrong. I believe in you.
Disagreeing with objective reality is a bold move that definitely doesn’t betray you as having a pig-headed agenda rather than opinions based on critical analysis and logical consideration.
