I was waiting for Classic and

I decided to test Final Fantasy 14 while waiting for Classic so I downloaded the Free trial version and played for two weeks now.

But here’s the problem : I waited so long for Classic so I WAS really excited about it. I said I was because I am so enjoying FF14 then I don’t know which game in I should invest my time. With work, family and friends I cannot afford the tile needed to play both.

The fact is FF14 is really beautiful and there are lots, lots, lots of things to do.
On the other side, Classic is great game and you already know that.

So everyone, which game should I choose to play? Any advice?

Fun is subjective. Only you can decide which game you enjoy more. Obviously posting in a specific game’s forums will get you hopelessly slanted feedback.

Kind of hard to make a judgement on FF when you have only played 2 weeks.

And classic when it’s not even out yet :X

Financial limitations not withstanding, why not both?

I flip-flop between WoW and FFXIV quite regularly, gives me a regular chance to take a break from one and a chance to catch up on the other.

FFXIV in particular, while there is a LOT to work through with the MSQ, is a game that doesn’t worry about you taking a break every now and then.

… unless you have a house, which requires you to enter it at least once every 40 days or else you lose it. But that’s the exception, not the rule; you won’t miss out on any of the plot (core to that game’s progression), nor will you have to worry about falling behind.

On the flip side, Classic is definitely a time commitment… but you can take your time and enjoy it as well. Definitely a lot to work on and towards, and don’t be afraid to take your time doing it.

So all told… if you enjoy both, play both.
Don’t worry about keeping up, just have fun on your own terms.

My motivation to post here was to find people who ply or had playing both games. Plus, if I agree about fun is subjective, some advices from those players would be helpful.

Sounds like trolling… But I will react to this (just once) : i never said how much time I invest during this two weeks. Plus, the free trial is enough to know if the game mechanics, universe and graphics suits to you.
Classic is not out yet ? But i am asking because i intend to play so before classic launch, i would like to decide which way i go.

@Raelhorn
Thanks for this great reply. it would be the best idea but paying two games a month… if only i have the time necessary i would play both. I Always choose one game at once and enjoy it at all his aspects so i think i will choose just one. The question is : which ?
Anyway, the answer should come to me but i was thinking reading everyone’s opinion before making it.
Thanks again for your detailed reply. And have fun playing both !

FF14 is about a million times better than Classic Wow.

Just remember to ALWAYS stay on top of that MSQ; I had no idea what it was, so now I’m level 55 in that and still not able to go on to the NEXT expansion (which is OLD now.) I have to complete some MSQ quest that takes long queues, because people don’t like to do it.

FF14 is actually amazing. You can play to level 35, not being limited, for free. That gives you a real good feeling of the game/its jobs. You actually switch to another “job” to do something like fish or mine; It sounds complicated but it is actually fun.

I’m a level 55 dragoon Turoturo (or whatever the heck they are, the 'lil cute girls.)

I’m also amazed at how well it runs under Linux, with Wine, on this now aging computer. I’ve played Wow, only in Linux, since the BC expansion. Previous to that I played it in Vista/NT? FF14 actually is more optimized than Wow (because it is newer?), even under Linux, so I was surprised at the good frame rate.

I love the “year around” mogs in FF14. There is some spring festival set, or something, then you can wear it whenever you want. Their mogging system is a bit more complicated/clumsy, but it still works.

My son’s play FF14 and I see why the do. Looks fun and sort of like WoW might have looked had it recently launched. Me personally am an old school WoW dude, so I can’t wait for classic WoW. No mounts until level 40 is the way it was always supposed to be!

Oh ffs, it’s not a troll.

You have only played the trial which is to level 35. You only have about 1/4 of your abilities, don’t even have access to all the advanced classes yet, haven’t done any high end PvE content, haven’t even completed the very first main story line.

You do not have the credentials to give this game a fair assessment yet.

Performance optimizations between the games aren’t really the same. I get higher FPS out in the world in WoW vs FFXIV and about same FPS in endgame content and hubs with just slightly more FPS in WoW.

It would be really dumb of you to decide which game to commit to before you’ve played one of them near max level and the other is even out, but you do you.

I have played both current wow and FFXIV. FFXIV I found to be more fulfilling, but I am looking forward to Classic. I could never focus on either WoW of FFXIV. I would say, play whichever you see yourself playing the longest, and whichever makes you the happiest. Both are great games.

I just hit lv 80 a day or two ago as a BLM and i must say the pve in that game is so much fun. I find the ui and the menu’s clunky compared to WoW but it never took away from the game being fun. I will be returning to Classic for old friends and wpvp, but if my friends weren’t playing I would not be leaving 14.
