Because of Blizzard’s brain dead choice to include layering in Classic. It is destroying the fabric of the game. People are exploiting it all over the place. I put together a world PvP raid on Astranaar a couple days ago with over 20 people…guess what? Empty. The few players who were around just hopped to another layer. The world feels empty. This isn’t the Vanilla experience we were promised. Bliz f***ed it up like they always do.
Can you please invite me to your empty layer because I every time I log in there are 400 people trying to kill my boars.
Chat is literally filled with “hey I’m exploiting something” 60 times a minute.
…and it’s still going on
Rock on blizzard
It’s sad but I think you are correct. Layering is basically the biggest deviation that players allowed from #nochanges. And look at what it caused. Even allowing one change, that blizzard advertised as absolutely necessary caused so much pain to the game… sad to say but you can’t trust ANYTHING current blizzard /activision does. Problems like this is what caused people to resort to the nochanges doctrine. It’s not that we hate all changes, it’s just the fear that allowing even one change will allow blizzard to mess up the game we all love.
I have doubts that they can even possibly get down to 1 Layer with these servers as massive as they are.
The only way they will is by restricting size bringing back large queues again and trying to force people to realm transfer to new realms that should have been opened from the beginning.
I’m afraid that Classic WoW is only going to be a sad sideshow for World of Warcraft. Layering will ultimately stay in out of necessity or kill the community forcefully with its removal.
I don’t see a situation where everyone wins. Especially the Classic fans who are the most upset about these issues.
Many people still don’t know about the layering issue but word of mouth will travel in next few days to most I believe as more and more people start to heavily abuse it.
Rip Classic, if they can’t fix it, Penalize and Punish people for doing it, I’m done.
I’ll wait until they Launch a Layerless server where hopefully they can’t mess any of this up so royally.
Rag is already dead. BC classic please.
I am curious what is worse in the long term, using layering or not using layering.
Layering will be gone come phase 2, so by then there shouldn’t be a problem anymore… right?
The only negative I see are the people that are abusing layering right now to get ahead, but I think that population that actually does it is quite small, and the population that actually abuses it effectively even smaller than that.
Blizzard really emphasized they are going to cut layering out by phase 2. We will see if that massive player drop-off will occur by then. If not then we will end up with perhaps more server transfers if the few mega-realms are still too high pop when layering is removed.
My thought is with the implementation of layering in the first phase, Blizzard has allowed a massive amount of people to play WoW Classic while in the end not needing to perform server merges. If Blizzard doesn’t need to merge a server for a year they will be in great shape.
They definitely messed up by having so few realms during the name reservation, they just didn’t know how many people really wanted to play Classic I guess, even with all of their data.
Layering is definitely my biggest issue has well, and even just beyond my personal dislike of the split population and seeing people phase in and out of existence regularly, it’s even being abused to the point of impacting entire server’s economies.
I don’t understand how Blizzard didn’t expect this, I get why they did layers, I get it, but they should have had a counter measure to the current abuse from the get go.
Layering has ruined my life.
It ran over my wife and slept with my dog!
Then it came to my house and ran into my car and fired me. Then gave me ebola.
Making me cry man
Wait for KT buddy. Then you can have your BC.
I’m not sure if you mean he’ll get BC servers after KT dies or that KT will be “BC” because it actually takes coordination and attunement. Either way, both are kind of true.
The solution is simple.
Layer to another layer and invite everyone from your raid to gank them and relayer to another layer they escaped to.
Its what i do.
Lol, dude, can you imagine what it would be like without layers? There would be thousands of people in every leveling area. You wouldn’t be able to kill anything. It would be trash.
I havent had layer problems yet, but thats just me. I hardly play classic.
Think im level 8 on my orc rogue.
I just fear my server will get queue times when free transfers roll.
Meh I’m having fun.
It’s an absolute mess and only going to get worse.
I can honestly say that layering hasn’t affected me or my enjoyment of the game at all. I’m not sure I’ve even noticed it. And I couldn’t care less about it.
