I was given a green flag despite not ticking it (non-experienced player)

hi. ill be the first to admit im not the best at wow, heck if anything im a total noob. all i did was sign up for a quick dungeon, and queued for dps i did not tick the green flag, i am not an experienced player

and for some reason it was given to me, i double checked and no, still didn’t click it. i just kinda panicked and leaved knowing i wasn’t qualified for it. (i probably shouldn’t have, but again im not experienced) i just want to know why that happened? i have never once clicked it before, maybe the matchmaker gave it to me because nobody else wanted to? it was dungeon i have played before, but i still did not see myself as qualified for it, since i only played it like twice.

part of me also thinks this should also go in tech support, but i wouldn’t know where to put it. if this is simply a thing with the matchmaker then ok, i think thats stupid, i would mutch rather wait a little while longer then be forced to be put in a postion i am simply not qualified for.

You are completely over thinking what happened. It sounds like the game randomly assigned the role. Being the “leader” has no weight attached to it and gives you no additional “powers”.

i didn’t see it that way. from what i understand it means you are willing to lead. i am not.

Theres nothing to lead. The tank sets the pace and everyone just follows behind.

The green flag is essentially meaningless. All it does is make anything you type show in a slightly darker colour.

And yes, if nobody clicks this option, the game simply assigns it to someone at random.

Very odd, typically I don’t tick that box either and q as tank and get it automatically, strange that a dps would get it without selecting it if anything it should default to the tank since they for the most part control the run.

If a random group is formed by automatic matchmaking, and no one volunteers to lead in their signup, someone will be randomly designated by the system. It means exactly nothing. And if you get stuck with it, and for psychological reasons it bothers you, you can transfer it to someone else. Traditionally, the tank, since it’s their customary role to set the path and pace.

If you are randomly given leadership, just right-click the tank or healer and hit “promote to leader”

It will not reflect poorly on you, as the tank usually likes to be leader to set markers.
