I WAS excited for WotLK

I WAS excited for WotLK.
I got chills watching the cinematic.
My hopes and excitement rose high but then were quickly blasted into oblivion.

Now, I am convinced that this game will be dead two months after launch.

To elaborate:

Classic: no changes.

Burning crusade: no changes.

WotLK: Let’s remove two of the biggest features in the game that gave people the ability to play more!

It’s like Blizzard just had the game development equivalent of an ABORTION for WotLK.

I had all my stuff ready to go, was going to make 2 more toons (or more).
But after that announcement, and after some serious consideration I went ahead with canceling my account.

Duel-Spec: Heavily Restricted, if even added at all.

Dungeon Finder: WILL NOT BE ADDED EVER.

I spent over 90 minutes two days ago trying to find a TANK for Heroic Arcatraz and that dungeon was the DAILY HEROIC AND THE DAILY NORMAL!

Idk about y’all but I am not in high school no more, I don’t have the time I did back then.

For that matter, I actually altered my entire degree program for my Master’s Degree so that it would not conflict with the release of WotLK; I wanted to maximize what time I had to play. (Graduate in 10 days btw).

Classic and BC have mostly been raid-logging for me (and the majority of the rest of the population by the looks of it) because getting groups together has proven extremely difficult.

I am not gonna do it in WotLK!

Dungeon Finder solved this problem because it allowed people to join a central queue.

People are tired of paying to just sit in cities and spend hours trying to fill groups to run 5-mans.

I was able to successfully run and gear up 5 toons back in the day (Prot Pally, Prot Warrior, Frost DK, Ele Shaman, & Disc Priest), now, in TBC, I am finding it near impossible to even actively gear up one because everyone just buys gold to pay 2 mages to boost them and then they buy more gold to join GDKP raids.

Finding a tank that does not demand gold up front to tank or all the green & blue loot is impossible.

I was depending on the Dungeon Finder to gear my toons, grind rep, and get ready for raids. I could queue up for a dungeon while doing dailies and questing and farming (herbs / mining). All that time playing the game will now have to be spent in Dalaran spamming trade and ‘/4’ for a group.

I am NOT going to pay to sit in a f&#%ing city staring at pink bricks because there is no other way to advance my toon.

Dungeon Finder was one of the most revolutionary mechanics of WotLK.

It did not affect the community because RAIDS were where it was at. You had your guild and server community in raids and in world questing.

I agree, LFR (Looking for Raid) hurt the community by basically making guilds obsolete.
LFD (Dungeon Finder) did NOT.

All LFD did was speed up pugging, make grouping for a dungeon a passive instead of active process, and allow people with limited time a more efficient way to enjoy the game which is arguably more important now given that the Classic population is older and most likely has many more real life things demanding their time and attention.

And either way, even if you disagree with me, this is a retrospective game, the effects on the community have already been had over the years and there is no going back.

The entire way of gearing toons revolved around Dungeon Finder.

Without it, there was no way to acquire higher gear for any toons other than raids (Frost Badges for example).

I mean, it wasn’t that long ago (WoD xpac) that Blizzard said they had no intention of doing flying mounts anymore or more complex talent trees again.

It took the success of Classic to get them to put talents back into retail.

And it took multiple threads on the forums at the time for them to put the Pathfinder achievements and Flying overall back in the game.

And now the new retail Xpac: Dragonflight will have both flying from the start and complex talent trees.

This move by blizzard to make major changes to the greatest Xpac in the history of the WoW Franchise is a display of how out of touch the developers are with the community and for me is the last straw.

I am done.

15 years of my life invested in this game on a 6 month recurring subscription and, at one point, I had the 12 month pass, and today I have canceled my account.

I have been waiting for WotLK since they announced Classic. I have been building my toon(s) in preparation for WotLK.

And with one announcement Blizzard has killed any desire for me to continue.

I will reverse my decision if Blizzard reverses their decision and REINSTATES THE DUNGEON FINDER TOOL. If I see in writing on an official post that DUNGEON FINDER WILL RETURN to WotLK Classic, then and only then will I renew my subscription.

Stopped reading at the point where you seemed to think there were no changes in vanilla classic and tbc classic.

See you in wrath.

So, you understand there actually WERE changes in both of those, correct?

That is an acceptable response.

There were not any changes that were of significant major game play alteration.

Sure, class talents were static.

Yes, they added the flight-plan-stop-button.

They did add the clock under the mini-map.

Everything else was basically exactly how I remembered it though minus the lvl 58 boost and dark portal package for TBC.

So you don’t consider this:

A “Major Gameplay alteration”?

You don’t consider the change to buffs/debuffs to be “major” to Classic Vanilla either?

You have a very skewed view of what a “major change” really is.

I think them giving all seals to paladins was a major change and did affect ret paladin gameplay.

Also, they made major changes to arena and it pretty much killed all participation with those changes.

LFD didn’t come out until ICC patch in retail. Maybe they will change their minds and add it into the game then, but as of now looks like pugging is the way to go. Also, maybe find an active guild that have members playing the same time as you, that helps a lot.

No, I do not consider the lvl 58 boost an alteration to game play because its not. You still had to lvl up from 58-70 and if you didn’t know how to play your toon you would not get into raids. Ultimately the one-time-only-boost function was something that equaled out with the rest of everyone who lvled normally.

And I am unfamiliar of the buff / debuff thing of which you speak.

I remember Ret Pallys back in the day basically being a waste of a toon. If only ret pallys got an additional spell, ok then I guess, that only affected a single spec for a single class, not 100% of the population.

Also, I have been in a raiding guild for the past 2 years that has been hitting content regularly. But seriously, who has raid-signups for 5-mans? Further, who honestly logs on the same time every day?

Everyday and schedule is different. If I want to run a dungeon at 4:00am because I just happened to wake up absurdly early for work then I should not have any doubts about my ability to find a group to do as such.

grats on graduation.
i am both a fan and non-fan of lfd. if they didnt make it cross realm, it might be ok. but the minute it goes cross realm, players start being anti-social. not sure why

Completely obliterating the Arena scene by starting team rating at 0, having arena rating requirement on shoulders and weapons in S1 and S2 and shorter seasons with less arena points gained on average.

Yeah, no “significant major game play alteration” whatsoever.
The biggest feature of TBC, arenas, was dead on arrival because of Blizzard making the worst possible changes they could ever make to the original formula.

You stated major game play alteration. Giving a spec a spell that was not there in TBC and made them to be a good spec when they have good RNG, which is a major gameplay alteration.

Now you are talking on behalf of the entire population? I don’t mind if RFD is in or not, if it is, I would use it, if it’s not, then I will pug and have some guild runs.

Again, they are making a major change to arena , as they are removing teams and using personal raiting (great change). Still, it’s a major change that affects the entire arena population.

this tbh
stay in retail my deth knoight friend

Yes this is this holy community that blizz and it’s white knights on the forums are trying to save. It’s pathetic.

I never had an idea that blizzard would actually remove LFD which was a well loved part of OG wrath by almost everyone. I was thinking they would delay it which would have pissed me off but I would still play wrath classic knowing that it was coming.

But then they dropped the bomb. I canceled too but you have played far more than me. I doubt if blizz will ever change their mind on this even with the huge outcry all over the internet.

Thank you.

I am not a PvP person.
I do not even really understand the things you have mentioned.

I honestly feel the same too.

I have been playing this game so long that I do not even have a replacement. The last video game that I actually played and played well was Fable (1-3) or Star Wars: Battlefront 2 (2005) I don’t even recognize modern games anymore, so when my account runs out here, I’m probably going to get a library card and a Netflix account or something.

I might try some other newer games. I was 15 when I started WoW, I am almost 31 now.

Brian Birmingham is too busy to read this since he’s still trying to find a tank to clear WC in SOM after his group failed halfway through.

That put a smile on my face.

See you in 3.3.5
That is when LFD came out.

people who take this Re-Release of an old game seriously! need to go visit psychologist.

i don’t meant to sound rude but you’re stressing yourself over something that should be used to relax you. you don’t realize that rush clearing things that was cleared 16years ago is pointless and there is no competition in something you already know everything about it, not to mention that it’s not a new and what you call top(first) guild on clearing raids day 1 Was already practicing clearing this raid everyday on either private servers or ptr for months So what is the point to admire something you clear on first day of re-release after you was already clearing it for months everyday before it gets released?!

about parsing ? you know that even a mindless Bot can actually score top parsing, just give it the gear and make it play the raid with other geared bots.

when it come to social experience which doesn’t exist away from guilds that never interact outside their own guild or closed circle groups that have no idea about what’s going out there in the world to the thousands of randoms, the dungeon finder(lfd) removal will cause more harm to the game than what it would do if it existed, meanwhile LFD will save alot of people the pain & suffer while it will not be a big deal to most people who think of it as evil.

in the end, this game should be played to be enjoyed so No point at all for blizzard to remove LFD when they don’t even touch the insane about of gold selling/buying/bots & the insane amount of boost service at every direction you go

Not with the lead classic dev squeezing his eyes shut as tight as he can and yelling I CAN’T SEE IT after muting anyone who doesn’t agree with him, no.
