I was declined to a key earlier

Now I know someone is going to read that title and start typing “maKe YoUR oWn KeY!” without reading or understanding the issue at play.

I’m not just A tank, I’m a 660 iLVL, 2600 rated prot paladin (2750 last season and main’d prot all of DF getting upwards of 3K a season) with an M10 or better timed in every dungeon so far. And I was declined to an M5. I signed up, waited 2-3 minutes and was declined.

For the key I was declined in I sat around watching it and seeing what would happen, a DH was invited as tank. It’s been three weeks of keys and we are already at that stage, and it’s not like I am playing a bad tank, we were meta at the end of last season, but it has already begun, groups are passing up seasoned tanks in low keys in favour of the precious meta.

Start my own key? Sure, I want low DFC keys for the mount farm. But I also want high keys for my group so we can push into the 3K rating again. I can lower my key to 2, but chances of getting DFC? 1 in 8. Chances or rerolling to DFC? 1 in 7.

Therein lies the problem with M+, the real problem, finding the key you want. Sometimes we just cannot start our own key, sometimes our own key never ends up being the one we want, and sometimes you struggle to get the key you want.

It happened to me in S4 of BFA, all the way back when. I needed a timed dungeon in Tol Dagor as my last run for KSM, I spent literal weeks trying to find and time a dungeon. I eventually got one done at the 11th hour, but this was also back when KSM first became a thing so people weren’t overly fussed and at the end of an expansion there was less people running keys so it was a bit of a struggle compared to now.

I think part of KSM/KSH/KSL somewhere in there should be a way we can choose what dungeon we want at a certain level or lower without needing a key for it. We’ve put in our time, we should be rewarded with being able to run any dungeon as part of the achievements, because trying to find that M6 Priory for the trinkets, or an M2 DFC for the mount, it’s not the easiest some times.

Not only do you need to find a key, you need to be invited, and if we are already going to be declined in low keys because a meta tank showed up minutes later, it just makes it even harder, especially if you are a DPS.

So, the solution is that people should be forced to invite you?

this is an overreaction from getting declined from a key.

just sign up to the next one.

You’re exactly that. You’re just a tank. None of this makes you entitled to join their group. Unironically:

if you are going to tilt like this over being declined

He’d likely get declined to his own key with that attitude.

The solution is actually something I wrote into the post if you bothered to read it.

Yep just like I said, someone is going to respond without reading the post.

But damn didn’t expect most responses to have not read what I wrote or completely, as usual, misunderstand what it is I am writing.

as a tank, i wait 30 seconds then cancel.

i think there should be a way to exchange a key for another dungeon. somehow, I feel like we could do that in DF. not just downgrade a key, but exchange it.

There was a time when we could literally delete our key, then simply run whatever and get a new one, they didn’t like that.

Maybe now that Prot Paladins are crying on the forum about being 2nd best tank, blizz will buff them and nerf VDH.

Meanwhile, Brewmasters…lol

You’re looking too deep into this. No one is required to take you regardless of your perceived credentials. There are plenty of reasons why they didnt take you nor do you see how many applications they had.

You are not owed a spot and there is nothing wrong with the system because you were declined. Stop taking things personally and apply to more groups.

edit: I read your post but if the actual topic you want discussed is 5 paragraphs in you cant get mad when people don’t bother.

If you want to farm the mount do it in M0 or heroic.

And another person who is not understanding what it is I am writing, expected.

It’s not about being the best tank, or the second best.

It’s about being a good tank with good stats being declined in favour of the meta… in a low key, already. And not just being declined, waited on.

I’ve seen it before in the past many times, even ones trying to do a Junkyard 2. The key I was in while waiting for a healer had the key holder pass up geared healers and eventually invited a priest who was around 30 iLVL lower than all the other healers that signed up because “They are meta”.

And this was back when an M2 was the old M2, the old “Take any five DPS and smash it out and you will be fine” M2. Which is why I made a suggestion to fix this problem, because sometimes you just cannot get the key you want to run as your own, and you could spend weeks trying.

People really do not have their own thoughts anymore huh?

AI = No read.

You do realize it’s possible that they chose a lower ilvl and scored tank on purpose. I think it’s weird, but sometimes you’ll get declined from lower keys because some lower key players feel that higher end players will act elitist or leave at the drop of a hat.

Even if this story is true one thing that happens frequently is someone makes a group, goes afk a few minutes, then picks from the list of applicants.

Maybe the DH had a higher rating than you, and maybe if you got picked the DH would he here posting about not getting invited.

I think “keys” should work like Delves and Torghast. You can choose whichever one you want, but its level is limited to what the lowest person in your group has unlocked access to.

Your 8 dungeons for the vault should be unique, not just the same dungeon 8 times.

This would also prevent people from hopping straight to a +7 from maxing their gear out in delves.

In World of Warcraft (WoW), being declined from a key (such as a Mythic+ dungeon key) is not considered a major issue for several reasons:

  1. Reputation and Progression Are Not Dependent on One Key: In WoW, progression is designed to be flexible. Declining from one key does not significantly hinder your overall progress. You can always try other keys or join different groups to progress. There are multiple ways to progress, and failing at one dungeon or not completing a key doesn’t significantly set you back compared to other games where progress is linear and dependent on a single event.
  2. Mythic+ System Allows Multiple Attempts: The Mythic+ system, which involves timed dungeons with increasing difficulty, has a built-in retry mechanic. If you fail a key, you can simply try again with a different group or a different key. The system allows flexibility in group composition, key selection, and attempts, meaning that one failure doesn’t severely affect long-term success.
  3. No Major Negative Impact on Gear or Rewards: The gear and rewards in WoW are typically not locked behind a single event or one specific key. Players can still earn rewards from other sources like raids, PvP, world quests, or crafting. If you get declined from a Mythic+ key, you can still make progress on gearing up your character through other activities.
  4. Community Support and LFG (Looking for Group): WoW’s community and the use of LFG tools provide an endless stream of new opportunities. If you’re declined from one key, it’s often a simple matter of finding another group to join. There’s usually no shortage of players looking for dungeon groups, so the chances of being stuck for long are minimal.
  5. Learning from the Experience: Being declined or failing a key can be a learning experience. It provides an opportunity to evaluate what went wrong, improve your skills, and come back stronger. WoW has a wide player base with varying skill levels, so failure is not often viewed as a major issue but rather as a normal part of the game that can lead to improvement.
  6. Key Affix Variability: The affixes that affect Mythic+ dungeons change weekly, meaning that some weeks, a particular dungeon may be harder than others, based on the affixes in play. A group may be declined simply because they were not prepared for those affixes. However, next week could provide an entirely different experience, with a fresh set of challenges.
  7. Social Environment and No Long-Term Punishment: WoW generally has a social, cooperative environment, and most players don’t face harsh long-term consequences for failing a dungeon or being declined from a key. There is no permanent negative status like in some competitive games. Most players understand that failures happen, and being declined is part of the ebb and flow of group dynamics.

In short, being declined from a key isn’t a major issue in World of Warcraft because the game is designed to offer many paths for progression, and failure is part of the normal cycle of learning and improving. There’s always another chance, and no single failure can significantly derail your long-term progression.

AI is dumb and dependent on your leading question.
