I warned you about stairs bro

I told you those books were Lordanian propaganda, I told you that there was division in the Alliance humbos, but no. It’s the Horde handing that out, LIKE I DON’T KNOW LORDANIAN RHETHORIC WHEN I SEE IT AND NOW LOOK! THE SCARLET CRUSADE IS BACK FOR THE HUNDRETH TIME BECAUSE WE HAVE TO FIGHT THEM EVERY EXPANSION.

I WARNED YOU ABOUT THE STAIRS, I TOLD YOU DOG.

IT JUST KEEPS HAPPENING.

This is what happens when people release their human paladins into the wild.

Oh they’re cute when they’re little, but then they get big and start trying to purge the wicked all over your furniture and you “set them free” which just lets them breed out of control and form Crusade colonies.

In English: when these books first came out I suspected that they had something to do with Lordaeron or the House of Nobles. Those books being: The Traitor King, The Last Menethil, The Cursed Old Wolf, and the Would Be Queen.

The titles and text for these books were confusing because they seemed to be anti-Alliance, but they were obviously anti-Undead and anti-Horde too. The way I pieced it together was someone, or something, in the Alliance was sowing division in the Alliance using clear Lordanian rhetoric. Only reason why someone would call a Gilnean a ‘Mongrel King’ but still use him to achieve their ends, primarily retaking Lordaeron. At the time I figured it was someone like the House of Nobles who had found or was looking for Calia’s lost daughter(Hence the Would Be Queen and the Last Menethil being framed as opposite to one another, while speaking of the Menethils postively.) but it turns out it’s the Scarlet Brotherhood brainwashing the Lordanian population of the Alliance.

Also makes sense why the ‘Shadowscrawled Scroll’ is in there now because, to be frank, the Scarlet Crusades always abused dark magic as well.

TL:DR enjoy five billion new Scarlet Crusade guilds in WRA.

And this matters how, exactly?

We’ve killed the scarlets 100 times already, 101 times wont loose us any sleep- specially when there is a giant sword stuck on the planet, and all out war between factions and mama naga and the old gods are 99% about to spank us

Well for starters, the Scarlets are all suppose to be dead by now considering the beatings they’ve taken from literally everyone since WoW first began.

The Scarlet Crusade has been pummeled so horrifically by the Ebon Blade and Conclave, that they’re likely been reduced to a bunch of randoms writing anti-Alliance and anti-Horde fanfiction. This hardly seems like a credible threat.

Some are okay.

That remains to be seen. We could only speculate.

It does show that Lordaeron as a nation is in play. That their people are not all Forsaken. It expands the story of the living survivors.

I believe Turalyon is from Lordaeron. Stormwind and Lordaeron are tight.

Perhaps we will return to Lordaeron. There is much unfinished business. The Scarlets present a third party attempting a power grab, while in Darkshore it is almost entirely a Horde vs Alliance story.

At the same time it is worth noting there haven’t been many expansions where the Scarlet Crusades been relevant, only Wrath and Cata had major stuff relating to them.

In BfA I would consider them more notable, especially since it seems like they are trying to recruit from the Alliance.

You could also count Vanilla for the initial Scarlet Monastery and involvement with original Naxxramas (especially the Corrupted Ashbringer scenario), Mists of Pandaria for the dungeon revamp, and Legion for their brief parts in the Death Knight and Priest campaigns. Ultimately though, their biggest times to shine have been Vanilla, Wrath, and Cata though, right.

It doesn’t come off to me that they have anything larger than the scenario to raise Whitemane as a Horseman quite yet, so I wouldn’t jump the gun on this one.

Now, if you guys were to tell me that Alexandros Mograine somehow asspulled himself back to life -or just his ghost or lightforged corpse, idk-, stole the ashbringer, restored it (like knaifu was restored) and now the Scarlets actually have a chance of winning then you might get me interested. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

But if you tell me that the Scarlets are back and are just recruiting then i can just hope they drope some cool tmogs or some HD holy horse (like midnight was made HD) when we inevitably farm them

True, but on the other hand Calia is a thing that just came up on our radar. She’s the Queen of Lordaeron, and an undead one at that, who large human portions of the population are very unlikely to like. We also learn a little bit about her family in BtS and the only reason I can think for them to be missing, rather then dead, is for them to come up again later.

If the Scarlet Crusade was latching onto a successor, a living Menethil would be perfect. Naturally this would put them into conflict with the Alliance and they’d start distributing propaganda to humans away, all of that might put a serious hamper on the Stormwind war effort.

Ion did, after all, say all of Stormwind might not be behind Anduin.

Do you want Scarlets, young man? Because this is how you get Scarlets.

I guess this is what happens when you keep Scarlets in your basement. Thanks for keeping it interesting Bro. Crowley.

I wonder if they will do anything besides cause a minor schism in Stormwind. At the same time, even a minor schism is a problem when you are in a situation where you are out of reserve soldiers.

If all we get is a cinematic of a Scarlet Convert throwing a rotten tomato at Anduin’s face, I guess that would still be cool.

Damn, now I have to roll a priest and steal the artifact weapon from them to wave in their faces.

… Scarlet Brotherhood…

Are they related to the Brotherhood of the Light? The extremist arm of the Argent faction?

I don’t really recall them hating all undead, but they also never expressed support for them and didn’t have any undead members.

Brotherhood / Scarlet merge?

EDIT:
Are these guys in support of Calia or not? Or is there another Menethil out there?

BtS had Calia say that she did have a commoner husband and a child (a daughter I think?) In secret before Arthas burned Lordaeron to the ground. Since then they were separated and she wasnt sure if either of them were still alive.

So having one or both of them being associated with this new Brotherhood would be possible.

They were mad that Anduin turned her into a “corpse bride”. I think they think she is a monster now. “the only good undead is a dead undead”. Calia supposedly has a child. The Scarlet Brotherhood is definitely anti-undead.

Makes me wonder the canonical fate of Lights Wrath after we drain the power. Makes me wonder if there is a chance the SB will somehow mysteriously come up with both (Ashbringer and Light’s Wrath), and really raise hell.

It’s almost as if the concept of racism can’t be killed with swords!

Nah.

It will be a rock.

Parity for Vol’jin in the lame faction leader death department as well as an unsubtle reference to his mom.

He’ll have a vision from the Light on his death bed telling him to appoint Turalyon as king.

Then Turalyon will go full scarlet crusade/purge the wicked on everything… it’s gonna be an ugly divorce.
