What addons are recommended to help ? What is routing ?
Raider io. Download mdt addon. Look at dratnos routes on said website. Will tell you what to pull ECT for %
For 1-10 don’t follow the raider io routes religiously. They are set up for prideful spawns. Which you won’t see until level 10. Just make sure you plan a route that gets you 100% before the last boss
I dont even know what any of that is. Can you guys recommend a guide to mythics?
Mythic Dungeon Tools (they referred to it as mdt, not very helpful if you really don’t know what it is) is an addon that lets you craft routes within the game, containing all of the information regarding dungeon mobs and bosses. This also lets you make a route by selecting on a map which mobs you want to pull and when, and how much percentage of enemy forces they are worth. This is invaluable for tanking, especially when you are first learning. You can also right click any mob/boss and see their abilities.
are you looking for any brew-specific addons?
My only brew addon is a weakuara called River’s normalized stagger. it’s a more accurate stagger bar than blizzard ui, especially if you’re running bob and weave which can store more stagger.
This is going to go well.
All you need to start mythic 0-9 is Deadly Boss Mod and experience. Once you feel ready for 10s you can look up routes. Focus on learning boss and trash mechanics, they will translate well when you move up in difficulty
OP should definitely start to look up routes in 1-9, else he’s gonna form bad habits.
Thanks for the advice folks. I’ve tanked up to a +2 I think with nothing but DBM. Will get the Mythic Dungeon Tool and start practicing that.
“routing” has not really been that important before now*, it’s just the seasonal affix is based on trash % killed, so it is very important to line your trash % killed up with the need for the buff. (as well as avoiding the powerful pride mob spawning in a big pack and overwhelming you)
*One could argue that Awakened had important route requirements, but they were pretty darn flexible. You could spawn portals wherever you wanted to compensate for other affixes. Prideful is incredibly rigid comparatively.
Routes are easy to alter, but failing mechanics is a bigger issue. I would focus on learning that before anything else.
I don’t disagree. But on higher keys, dps need to know where you go and what you pull to plan CDs, so getting your route down as early as possible is very helpful.
I would suggest getting bigwigs and little wigs. Remove dBm. Read what each boss does. Check out quazzi on YouTube for ideas on how to tank with monk.
“Quazii” helped me a ton with the learning cure. Watch his older vids from like November/December where he hoes over all the dungs and pulls… so helpful
These addons do exactly the same thing so don’t go around telling people to remove DBM. It’s cool if you prefer bigwigs but that’s all it is, a preference.
Actually no. It’s little better on timers and more customisable. There was a huge difference in BFA. Reason little wigs is completely designed for mythic plus. Better to get use to a good add-on over a bad one.
They do not. Little Wigs is significantly more accurate than dbm in dungeons. Some examples from BFA: Dbm said to interrupt wash away (a side step tank mechanic) and painful motivation (a mob self harm).
Not to mention setting personal countdown timers for mechanics you miss, whether on bosses or trash.
@OP I set countdown timers for reaping scythe in ToP and the add spawn on the second boss of SD.
knowing where to go and what to do seems to be my issue. I dont like doing this but i think running as DPS until you have a good grasp on what to do is probably one of the safer ways to get into tanking mythics.
