I want to "Star" a character on the character selection screen

I just wanna right click a character and have an option box pop up, from which I could choose to put a star next to that character’s name in the character selection screen list.

Even with the new warband campfire scenes feature and having the option to add more, I’m still finding it disorientating because I can “get lost” in the menu.

It does bring up a good point. Should we get addons that can assist in the character menu? Maybe someone can help with your suggestion.

Problem is that addons don’t load until we load the game. We’re in a lobby prior to game loading with character select.

Do you think it would be worth the effort for them to load prior to character selection?

I would prefer a 'Sort By" option.

Sort by Name
Sort by Level
Sort by Realm
Sort by Class

being the 4 minimal options.

I don’t know that it’s possible.

Loading prior to loading into the game may avoid Blizzard’s Warden security…thus, being able to load at character screen might possibly create even more issues than that might be worth.

I stick everyone in warbands except the ones i play during the patch which are outside it. Makes it ez. But granted i only have one of a class mostly except monk/dk/war

The way I currently have it organized is like this. Every line in the following list is a campfire scene of 4 characters titled as, in order:

  • Current Mains (constantly changing membership lol)
  • Decision Room 1 (characters whose primary function I haven’t been able to decide upon yet)
  • Decision Room 2
  • Decision Room 3
  • Pvp characters
  • Ench, Alch, Inscri (shortened names for professions, each character does only 1 profession, except for my gatherer druid who does both mining and herbing, and also the LW who also does skinning)
  • JC, Eng, Gatherer
  • BS, Tailor, LW+Skin
  • Old rep grinders (for zones/patches I missed)
  • Zone Story Questers (for zones that I want experience or re-experience the story, they will have their own character for me to do them on)
  • Monk Decide 1 (I’m currently unable to decide on a good name for a future new BM monk)
  • Monk Decide 2

And then everything under the campfire sections… section… are all of the even more unplaceable characters or characters that I once leveled up and am now undecided over. Washyerback is in this section lol.

So yeah, I am quite visually overwhelmed by this even with the added organization of the campfire scenes, which unfortunately still can only hold 4 characters in each one.

Edit- I should also mention that the reason the ability to place a star/favorite icon onto a character would be so helpful is because- What if I decide I want to main a character who is currently one of my designated crafters? Do I move that character out of his or her slot in my crafting campfire scene, and then just, what, have an empty slot? Like a madman? No, let me just put a star on that character, that way I know that he or she is my main for the season.

I think the issue is more with a lot of indecision and temporary characters, not just the layout of the character select screen itself.

But I understand how it’s not always easy to decide what you want to do with some of them.

For me, I have the following camps:

  • Other Servers - four characters that I use to check AH prices of items I want that I know will be too pricey on my server.
  • Guild Leaders - four characters that run the four guilds I have.
  • Alliance Lowbies 1 - alphabetized
  • Alliance Lowbies 2 - continued alphabetizing
  • Horde Lowbies 1 - alphabetized
  • Horde Lowbies 2 - continued alphabetizing
  • Mains - the four main characters I’m focusing on

And then below that are all of the rest of the characters I leveled to 80, but don’t play as much, alphabetized, but not in camps.

That way, I can keep the “Mains” camp open, then just scroll down to see everyone else.

It helps my sanity. lol

I do have empty slots in my Lowbies camps.

Campsites should be as big as you want, only 1st 4 toons will show on the screen.

Not sure of the logic behind locking us into a quartet.

I’d also like to be able to move campsites up and down the list, currently it means you have to move toons and rename stuff, just being able to slide the campsite up or down would be nice.

Star idea is cool, +1.

I would like to be able to adjust the size and information on the right side of the character select screen. But then I’ve always liked the minimalist view.

These are my camps…
Top 4
2nd up
3rd up
4th up and AH
1st Inactives
More inactives Z’J
more non 80s SC
newbs Z’J
more newbs Z’J
leftovers SC
More newbs SC

The Top 4, 2nd up, 3rd up, and 4th up and AH are all open. The remaining camps are closed so there is little scrolling beyond the 4th camp. But I can easily open them to check out whatever. My characters in the 4 main camps get moved around frequently.

Make a new camp called “Starred” and put that toon in it. Ta-da.

Wait I thought the AH was global now? Like same prices on every server. Is that not the case?

Crafting mats are global / regional (NA is shared with NA, etc). Other stuff like transmogs are still server specific

I’m chaos so I like to kept a completely random order on my select screen. I know where everyone is though and I won’t move it now because of relational memory.

I found the cause for confusion, it’s you.

Oh yeah so glad I shared in order for me to be insulted. How would you organize them oh wise one

So you know they are special?

Trust me, I’ve seen the parse. We all know you’re special.
