I want to see more specs with PASSIVE cleave/multi-target/AoE functions

Uh huh. An analogy which directly refers to dealing with me? You’re aware of the transitive property, right? If you said it referring to “those people,” and you consider me one of “those people,” then you said it referring to me.

It’d be cool if you didn’t say things like that at all, in fact.

Sooner or later youre going to realize youre wasting your time with those two and ignore them. Its ok…youre not the only one here who has, nor am I.

Yes.

Concerning my frustration with you.
My. Frustration.

Not your level of intelligence. If i wanted to go that route it would be a lot more creative than calling you a child. Trust me.

Anyone who has had to deal with trying to teach a child a math problem theyre not getting fully understands my analogy of frustration.

And i think the same thing about your desires for simplicity in WoW. But we’re allowed to express our feelings as we so wish

Calling it a night here, I hope I’ve been respectful and apologies for any misplaced commentary made by myself. If you are curious about any of the how’s or why’s of AoE’s variety and relation to Single Target I’m happy to talk on it. I don’t think there’s anything inherently wrong with wanting some degree of consistency in gameplay between target counts, after all I’m a Shadow Priest and that’s a spec that’s kinda been based on that idea from the beginning.

It’s just a lot of work to do in a way that doesn’t feel like a loose end or invalidate the AoE tools the spec could alternatively choose.

Yeah people tend to ignore people that ruin their delusions with facts.

That’s an interesting damage breakdown, Grizzle. Curious how you always seem to have a log to backup whatever you say.

You’ve been wonderful, thanks for taking the time to discuss things. I appreciate it!

Curious as in curious how it takes all of 5 seconds to fact check something before posting it on a forums as “fact” ?

In M+ where its 85% AoE scenarios, Shred still sees about 80% of the uses of BrS. Theres a lot of nuances that go in to it as for what you cast. Shred sees a lot of play even in AoE due to said nuances involving clear casting procs, mob count, proccing Bloodtalons, running Incarn, etc etc

Oh that’s a stretch, even for you Grizzle.

A lot of it is that packs aren’t dead until the last mob is. While it might be more damage overall to swipe, it’s less efficient in a group context because other players are also doing AoE damage.

It comes down to agency and opportunity cost. Resource gen is the same so the small loss in overall to kill the pack more evenly is better for the timer.

Edit: This loose end was bugging me a little. Actually bed now.

Now this I will agree with…however I do think we are detracting from the OP a bit…

We are somewhat, but it also arguably illustrates the point of having to be careful when implementing cleave style effects to single target spells. Despite swipe being objectively more damage than shred in some of these situations, shred is still preferred due to the inherent value of priority damage / AoE efficiency.

You would have to play Feral Druid to understand it.

-BrS operates on a charge system. There will be times you burn your charges and have multiple GCDs where BrS is not available

  • Refreshing Rake outside of a pandemic window is a DPS loss
  • This leaves you with Shred and Thrash.
  • Thrash only over takes Shred with 6+ targets (high crit you may even favor Shred). So lots of AoE cases where pack drops to <4 targets gets a lot of Shred play
  • During Berserk you spread rakes and spam BrS/Shreds (which again, with BrS on cooldown for many GCDs leaves you with Shred spam which is also preferred for combo point generation)

As mentioned, lots of nuances where Shred gets used a lot in AoE scenarios. Not to mention that Convoke likes Shred too, even in AoE

I don’t mind either way, I feel like I’ve had my part in the discussion for a while. I get that we’re kind of at an impasse where things are balanced in a particular way, but that doesn’t stop me from wanting some changes, y’know?

Discussion of this kind is exactly what I like to see, even if there’s disagreement. As long as it’s a civil disagreement that’s great.

I’m a long time feral main, sir!

Not getting into that in this thread though…good luck Grizz.

Im aware. But you havent done anything noticeable with Feral recently to understand the nuances that i listed

Disclaimer: i did mean to add the recently part in the original post
