I want to play a ranged dps but not finding them fun

I like soloing much better on melee classes but not a huge fan of melee gameplay in a raid and to a lesser extent dungeon setting.

They’ve really messed up the fun factor for warlocks.

Might just be my lack of gear (357 ilvl) but my boomkin just feels god awful weak and can barely push 8k dps.

I have a 111 shaman but the way shaman get treated by the devs is just sad and not sure I wanna go through that.

What would you guys suggest?
Push through with the lock knowing they’ll always have a strong spec? Get better gear on the druid and see how it goes? Roll the dice and level the shaman?

Hmm. Have you checked the Druid Discord for some hints and tips? What’s your mastery at? That is your number one stat followed closely by haste. Unless something changed recently that I don’t know about.

It’s just a matter of checking what your spec requires, rotation, talents, gear stat weights etc if you are under performing. Balance is doing really good.

That said I also can get picky with what I find fun but perhaps just learning a bit more of the spec, and giving it a longer-try can get you enjoying a spec, if not, then melee all the way :grin:

  • I don’t think we’re going to see anymore changes for locks this xpac unfortunately.

  • You’re boomie dps seems very low. Is that number just from questing or in like a m+ or something?

  • Ele shaman is very powerful at the moment. The buffs they got in 8.1 made them very fun and very good in raid and m+.

  • You could also try BM hunter. They’re basically a ranged melee.

Why not Hunter? Maybe MM spec?

It’s really no use for us to tell you what WE consider fun.

But I enjoy Elemental Shamans and Mages (all specs) Shadow Priest is fun for me too because of the rotation.

bm hunter the most mobile ranged spec in thegame and just got some nice buffs to.

Ah personally I only play BM but was curious of MM for the OP. I love my BM H but I could see why he might not want to play the pet heavy spec.

<------zedan this is my main ilvl 391 bm hunter.what i notice is if you pvp as mm hunter you eill train you more…lol.

Yes they have. I’m usually pretty chill about class design but they straight gutted Afflock and turned it into some kind of welfare wizard pewpewpew instead of draindraindrain.

the best ranged class in the game to me is bm hunter unless you want to do 98k chaos bolts…lol.

Mage. Come for the Portals, stay for sheer joy of blinking around and staying just out of reach whilst you kill all of the things :wink:

I’ve been having a somewhat opposite problem.
I main Arcane Mage, and I’m trying to branch out to other classes.
Personally I like simpler rotations. And procs that are intended to be used immediately.

I also much prefer managing buffs better than debuffs.

Demon Hunter. Also a joyful class with WINGS :grin:

Per icy-veins stat priority for boom chicken is (and what I’ve tried to use)

  • Intellect
  • Haste
  • Mastery
  • Critical Strike
  • Versatility

Please no… there are enough of them in game as it is…

I can’t really get behind a mage either. They’re one of if not the squishiest class. They don’t even have the firepower to claim glass cannon…

I want to like a mage but I just can’t.
