Started playing EQ in 2000. Instantly gravitated towards the Bard spec as it took the most skill to really master (weaving songs). So much fun.
EQ2 played a Troubadour and Dirge (same basic idea)
Started playing WoW in 8.3. Having a blast but I miss the class/genre of being a bard and what they bring. Probably will never happen here as a class but maybe an off spec some day?
Yeah it always bothered me how they seem to always make the Bard an idiot.

LOL that video was funny! On EQ Bards were useful, they had to be because they took up a space in your party ( I was on Povar server)
But usually, nobody was picky, you would be camping an area and some person would walk up and say “can I join?” and as long as he could breathe, he was acceptable.

But yes, I’ve been playing with the Musician addon lately and it’s been making me think about this. I would be absolutely fine with a bard class being added to WoW. I’m also a fan of bards in DnD and end up playing one when I can’t think of anything else (recently I’ve been working on a Kobold Bard idea for a friend’s campaign once they start).
If we are ever given Bards I will be a very sad Orc if I don’t see at least one named Fansy. And that Bard better be in a guild called Go Go Good Team. BRB going to go eat some orange Skittles.

Bards were pretty much mandatory in FFXI. Easiest leveling of all time.
Rift did the bard class relatively well. However, if they were to introduce bards to WoW, it would have to be done differently. Bards are traditionally a support class and that role obviously doesn’t exist here.
I hated having to depend on Bards in EQ.
Yes, they’d play Selos.
They’d also twist in their own invis.
Which would cancel mine. Then they’d cancel their own. Then the whole zone would be chasing you.
Then you’d need the Bard to drag your corpse.
And you’d get to watch it all in 16 bit goodness.
The only skill in playing an EQ bard was not to get carpal tunnel.
Ffxiv has bards and the class design is the best. You get to weave songs

I loved it playing a rogue iskar ,wish i had one in wow.

ah yes! i’ve played it in the last 2 years on the original triology version of eq (og, kunark, velious). weaving is freakin’ crazy.
