seriously, the dracthyr sounds cool on paper, but they just… arent. the lack of proper mogs, the very limited armor types for the dragon form and that god AWFUL visage form where you are forced to be male blood elf with scales or female human with scales. the visages have absolutely no lore reason to be locked into weird half elves, especially now that dracthyr have unlocked their full power. and please blizzard give our dragon form some love. terrible mogging and being forced to ride on other dragons is awful and defeats the purpose of BEING A DRAGON!

OP is absolutely correct, the Dracthyr were a poorly-thought race. They deserve to fly natively similarly to how druids do - none of this cooldown crap. Just give them regular flight outside of Dragon Isles, easy.
Visage form should have been any race, or at least more than just blood elves. So lazy. All that work they put into rainbowifying a blood elf was unnecessary and ugly. You’re surrounded by dragon NPCs who take on the forms of gnomes, Tauren, you name it.
Better yet, why any visage form at all? The only reason the dragons had those forms was because they were too fearsome and cumbersome to interact with the mortal races. You’re already human-sized, you don’t need to change into something else.
Armor should appear on Dracthyr. Naked dragons with shoulder plates isn’t it, and is also lazy. They didn’t feel like making the model armor-able so they gave us some rainbow-elf thing we can use out of combat. The entire execution was silly.
“But but but it’s because they’re new to this!” Again: They made the lore. Apparently, they wrote the lore around their sloppy, lazy game development, as well. Even Augmentation is evidence of this. Why have a class with only two specs only to add a third a few patches later? You guys didn’t have time to finish the class and figured, screw it, we’ll treat the third spec like “content.”

Honestly, I think the Dragonborn from Baldur’s Gate 3 are better dragon fantasy then Dracthyr but that’s my poor opinion.

The drakonids were also seen as one displaying gender so I don’t get why you’re avoiding dracthyr yet wanting a race that does the same thing
I love Dracthyr so much, but I hate how soar is fun nerfed, Visage and Dracthyr don’t have separate mogs, and visage form sucks when a Visage is as iconic to wow dragons as tail swipe and wing buffet.

Lizard monsters not displaying mammalian sexual dimorphism is one of the very few design choices I like about the dracthyr

Think the restrictions in armor tmog is because i assume the different body sizes just uses “virtual” armor pieces with specific 3d models. So any kind of actual armor would replace your desired body shape.
Yeah, really wish they’d add some more racial visage forms.

It just made it so terrible cause the spec was barebone, it was the first time they finally give us a new caster/ ranged DPS… and it’s just this.

While I would’ve preferred Drakonids, I’ve been pretty happy with my Drac’thyr. I agree that the Visage Form is ugly as sin, but then again I don’t use it. I’m in the dragon form 100% of the time because… why would I pick the dragon race and then run around in human form? Kind of defeats the purpose of the race, imo. I don’t even have the ability on my hotbars.
Also, I wish Soar functioned exactly like Dragonriding.

I agree. Cool on paper, but visuals go a long way. As much as we want to pretend they don’t, it’s hard to enjoy immersion when Dracthyr look like malnourished styrofoam geckos with a peanut head.
The spell animations are lackluster as well. Add in the lack of proper flying and poor mog options, and it’s a big disappointment all around. For me, at least. I have no doubt a few people enjoy them.

Everything about the Dracthyr screams cost-cutting. They knew they needed to add a class/race as a box feature to pull people in but wanted to do it in the least expensive way possible. The reason is just $$$. It is that simple.

When I see Drakthyr NPCs flying it reminds me that mine are gimped versions of the real thing and it seems weird.
