I want to have stay competitive in the game AND have fun

Can i do this without considering the game a Full time job and not being irrelevant end-game?

I mean, For PvP and PvE, i want to stay on par with other players. Can i do this while playing normally or i have to play non-stop and grind all day?

don’t take me wrong. I love the game, but i feel now the game demands you to be there 24/7 if you want it to be at least “playable” on endgame, without being kicked from groups for not having the right Gear/legendary or stomped on Random pvp for having mediocre gear.

In the past (Say Tbc to MoP), you could play the game on your own pace and still have fun and be kinda competitive with other players. Sure, hardcore players would have the best itens and stuff, but the “gap” between them and Non-hardcore players was not this huge abyss, you still could be relevant.

I think the real question is the huuuge powerlevel gap between common player and a hardcore one, maybe.

Edit: Again, don’t take my wrong as if im bashing the game, just sharing some feelings about it.

What do you mean by be “competitive”? Progression mythic raiding? No. Raiding on normal when it comes out? Yes.

You have a progression of normal, heroic, and mythic five mans. Depending on your gear level, that is what you will do. So I don’t really see you losing any “competitive” edge, unless you’re trying to be on the cutting edge with everyone else.

The cutting edge of anything isn’t fun, unless you enjoy committing to it like a job. But if you don’t commit to it as a job, there is plenty of fun to be had at your appropriate ilvl of content.

Kind of early to be asking such questions when you are only level 40.

You’ve gotta find your own happy medium, dude. There’s no middle ground between cutting-edge competitive and non-work levels of time investment. You need to find the amount of time you feel is okay, and then find a guild that fits that.

Not my main, for some reason i can’t post on my lvl 60 shaman.

So? “Common” player’s aren’t going to be doing the same content so what does this matter?

depends on what you mean by “Competitive” who are you competing with.

Do you want to read raid logs and wipe on bosses for hours? Then no, you can’t do both, do you want to call out other guild members or the officers for being really terrible individuals when they overreact to a wipe, but can’t or you’ll lose your spot and probably gkicked? Then no you’ll probably not enjoy mythic raiding, or really high keys.

For the most part you can stay competitive in PVP and have fun, since it’s easy to choose when you want to do it, it’s not locked content, and logs and multiple overlays and spreadsheets aren’t required to be top tier. You can do both in PVP, not pve though. Since the community only values Mythic raiding as the real raiding.

WoW has no PvP without extensive PvE and time gating.

being competitive is fun

just abandon your other hobbies, family and stuff.
