I want to get shadowlands but

Upon checking out the forums, most of you seem incredibly bored or unhappy with the game haha. Have they done anything to encourage people socialize more? For an MMO it seems like BLizz has done everything it could to make community optional.

Most of the people who enjoy the game will be busy enjoying the game, so always take forum activity with a grain of salt.

However, to answer your question: No, they haven’t encouraged socialization much. Guilds are still guilds, LFG is still LFG, Trade is still Trade. Pretty much the same as the few expansions prior.

People who enjoy the game are playing it and not here complaining in the forums. Only way to know if you like it is to try it. These forums are not a majority of players take them with a grain of salt.
Happy customers aren’t the loudest customers.
Quills beat me to it.

If you play paladin. This week is not the best to join because your best legendary drops from a time gated content and it’s not up yet. (torghast, shock barrier if you are curious). So level up hpal and be prepared to play your class subpar for a week at least till next reset. It’s all RNG so maybe a few weeks before you can play your class at its full potential.

Probably not worth your money mate.

Wait till like .1 so you can play without hitting the first timegate.

This is the best xpack in years. I’m having more fun than I did in Legion at this stage in the progression. It’s been 5-7yrs since I’ve enjoyed retail this much.

Uhhh?! Time gate rewards?! I don’t really have a strong grasp on any of that just yet.

The vast… VAST… majority of players think this is one of the better expansions that have been released. The General Forums are full of low post count alts trolling.

That said, nothing has been done to encourage socialization. It’s the same as the game has been since Wrath. Click a button, join a random group, no one says a word, get stuff done, never see each other again.

Here’s a good way to determine if SL is good for you or not

Look at the positive and negative posts in this thread

And look at what content they are doing based on profiles

The biggest red flag is someone posting on a non level 60

I rarely come to the forums and just happened upon this post while looking for threads complaining about Mort’regar. The game is really fun outside of a few issues.

You should never use the forums as a gauge for whether or not something is good.

The problem with social interactivity in a video game is that, no matter what they put into the game to make people socialize more, it will always be eclipsed by third-party sources that make it much easier, more efficient, and more accessible to socialize with others. Discord does everything a guild chat does and more. Why limit myself to one channel of communication when I can use Discord to join class-based servers, guild servers, and RP servers to get my social fix, all the while being able to get in contact with anyone even when they’re not playing the game?

This isn’t 2008 anymore, where the majority of us were limited to in-game chat and had to pay for third-party servers for voice chat.

That means nothing. Alts exist.

dont listen to the forums, every post is about “X is bad, nerf it!” - bunch of winners if you ask me

There’s so much winning we have to cry “No, it’s too much! Stop the winning!”

It does mean something

Anyone can post on a level 10 and say “X is bad”

The character is what determines a low effort bait or a genuine post

I’m crusty and my 2008 state of mind makes me resistant towards discord. heh.

I don’t mean to make huge stretches of logic here, but I would say a well-worded and thoughtful argument would probably be enough indication.

Reading what is written and thinking about it determines what is a troll.

Or, you transferred, and to retain your post history and your bookmarks, you had to make a low level character of the same name.

The more you know.
