I’ve seen some whispers that the scaling for the tower is all borked right now. Should I even bother until it’s rebalanced, or wait later in the xpac when our own level-capped power helps somehow?
I also saw some reference to using armor and enchants from lower levels for better scaling.
Also - I had completed like 3 of the challenges back in Legion. But I guess the progress for the Tower achievement reset at some point?
Any tips or thoughts appreciated!
Yeah, completing the challenges back in Legion doesn’t count towards the Spelltome unfortunately.
I need it too, but I’m personally waiting until it’s either fixed or at the end of the xpac, as I tried it at the start and it was a nightmare.

I just recently did two of the mage tower challenges in the last two days, and I can say that they are doable, but they are really unforgiving. There is no way to really outgear them, since you are scaled to be level 45.
Also, I am not great at the mage tower challenges, so I am pretty sure I have more attempts than the average person doing this version of MT.
The healer challenge part 1, you can’t slack on the group with the 2 soldiers/mage, especially when the 2 soldiers cast their AOE abilities. This is where 95% of my wipes took place. Took me about 250 attempts to get this.
What I did learn is as resto druid, you can use your treants as a shield to block mana sting, which came in super useful.
I also did the worm challenge on windwalker monk, and felt it was pretty hectic, until I got the rhythm of the fight. Damage intake was very manageable, just using vivify. Took about 100 attempts to get it, but I won, which is what matters.
I’ve started attempts on Closing the Eye on survival hunter and again, feels doable, but probably take me around 60-100 attempts to get it because I don’t know how to play surv hunter, and am still learning the fight.
If you want to start mage tower, go for it. The challenges are doable, but they don’t always forgive mistakes.
I refuse to go back to the Mage Tower to get it. I did the challenge for all 36 specs during Legion so call me entitled, but that tome mount should have been mailed to me on Day 1 lol.
The only way I’m doing it is when the scaling gets borked and I can outgear it. It happens.
well according to the TW mage tower discord, people are still getting the challenges done. Yes, the scaling is messed up I believe, but they’re all still doable.
