I want a cool flying mount

I’m not ready to get addicted to mount hunting. But I have hardly any, like 7. My coolest claim to fame is the crossover Heroes of the Storm steed which as far as coolness factor, is about as cool as driving a Chevette in high school.
So point me in the “I want it now” direction. Something easy to get. Something that will make me feel awesome.
I’m a 110 monk. What head do I need to bust.

None of the easy ones to nab will particularly impress others… But there are a few you can get quite easily.

If you’re in to dragons, the twilight drake and black drake from a lich king raid called The Obsidian Sanctum. If you do it on 10 man you get the black drake. if you get it on 25 man, you get the twilight drake. Back in the day, you essentially had to kill him on his “hard mode” to get them. There are 3 mini boss drakes around him. Just leave them alive. They used to join the fight and make it tougher. He’s only a level 80 raid though, so just nuke the boss and free mount.

The Bronze Drake can be acquired from killing a mob in the 5 man dungeon The Culling of Stratholme within a time limit. Very easy, level 80 dungeon.

Look at the achievements that give mounts too - most of them are pretty easy and some can even be fully solo’d. The “Glory of the (inset dungeon or raid name here)” meta achieves often give mounts. You’ll have to collect a good chunk of achieves during the dungeon though, so you may need to do your research ahead. And not all achieves can be solod.

You can get a ton of mounts from reputations. Some of them are even easy to get max level rep with. Some are a bit more time consuming… I’d recommend checking out WoWHead. I think there’s even a full guide on rep mounts. If you’re willing to grind a little, some can be done very quickly.

Oh and join the WoWsecrets discord… Idk how discord works… so maybe someone else can teach you how to get in… They post mount giveaways all the time. So, someone will post that a specific rare mob is up that drops a mount, whisper them your name-realm, and hopefully you’ll get an invite. If it’s a mount where multiple people can loot it, you’ll probably get an invite. Lots of them in Warlords of Draenor. You go, heal the person “tanking” the rare spawn, and get a mount.

As someone else said - the twilight drakes are the easiest mounts to get. There are also a few cheap ones you can get on the AH. Personally, I like the sparkle point from the store… but I’m weird lol.

I still think it is worth getting the Reins of the Ironbound Proto Drake which still looks just as awesome as when it first came out.
I’m not going to say it is easy but certainly easier then before.You just need to complete the Glory of the Ulduar Raider Achievement and you get both the Ironbound Proto-Drake and Rusted Proto-Drake

Another mount which would go well with a Monk is the Reins of the Astral Cloud Serpent.It does have a low drop but the mount is worth farming.

If you are looking to get your feet wet with farming, I suggest you start with Onyxia in Dustwallow Marsh and Malygos in Borean Tundra. Each raid only has the one boss and they are super quick.

My first go around with WOW twelve years ago I killed Onyxia a hundred times in old raid guild. Good god no to Onyxia again.

Lol ok. Throne of the 4 Winds in Uldum also drops one but there are two bosses in there. Whole thing should take 5 min.

For a nice route for mount hunting, I use

After you look up your character go to Collections > Mounts then check Show Planner. Enjoy collecting more than enough mounts to find your perfect one.

You will totally be at the mercy of RNG but run ICC until you get Invincible. That is a cool mount.

This. Ignore all other advice and farm invincible on as many alts as possible. It’s really the only “cool” mount around that is farmable solo. You could go for Midnights Eternal Reins but Invincible trumps even that

Glory of the Raider achievment gives 2 mounts. The rusted proto drake and the iron bound proto drake. Both look pretty cool. Some of the mop serpents are easy to get and look pretty cool to. Especially the way they move. Other than that checkout warcraftmounts dot com.

If you want something fast, fits a monk, and isnt a raid then you want

Takes maybe an hour to fly around and get all the lore points for rep. There is a Lorewalkers handynotes addon that makes it even faster.

Also the Onyx Cloud Serpent is earned through quests in Twolong, maybe 30-40 min tops.

Awwww man. Towling Steppes was one of the zones I missed in Pandaria. 80 to 90 was only able to complete Jade forest, kunlai summit and valley of the four winds. This is why I experience capped myself at 110 so I don’t miss legion content and can finish Draneor

Nothing keeping you from going back. If you want to experience “as it is” without all your 110 gear there is a green armor vendor in Twolong who can set you up.

Oh no need for that! I’ll grab it. Any zones I haven’t done are on a list for my first alt. They’ll get a complete original content play thru up to Draneor
Missed classic zones, Northrend, Pandaria, and cataclysm. More then enough for 1 or 2 alts
