Don’t get me wrong, Orc shamans are still pretty awesome. However, I was initially bummed with Orc Shamans when we lost our totems and had them replaced with axes. I know it’s weird, but that one change help me quit this game for many years (just recently reactivated during the pandemic).
Now there are two new things that really bug me with Orc Shamans and that is the healing animation and the idol attack stance. I miss the grand ol’ “flick of the wrist” heal. Why was the healing animation changed to the poopy “rain of fire” animation? And why is the idol attack stance stand upright now with a shield lodged in my butt?
I know this is a minor issue, and me complaining about it might not change anything, but I just have to get it off my chest!
In summation, please add a glyph to give Orc Shamans our old totems back, bring back the old healing animation, and fix the idol animation to no longer be upright or poopy. Thanks for your time!
Edit:
I should added that the animation feedback is in regards to male Orc Shamans. Thanks again!
I completely agree with the cast animation stance for male orc shamans. They lean back tucking their chin in, making beards clip and shields clip through their body at the back. It’s so bad and off putting when playing, looking warlock and mage stances I’m so jealous.
I just want the old chain heal back. Maybe (definitely) earthliving weapon too.
Chain heal just looks terrible now. Honestly, tripling down on the water theme over the years and leaving earth almost unutilized doesn’t feel right.
For a LONG time, the only water themed spell we had were totems. I feel like we lost something thematically, and I miss the old fantasy sometimes.
That being said, I still love resto. It makes sense that if anyone should use water, it would be us. Would be great to see some cosmetic glyphs at some point though.
I started as a Troll Shaman and I really feel like I’ve grown with this character. Started Enhancement when I was young and reckless irl and it really translated to the gameplay. Just throwing myself at enemies with no abandon, stormstriking and getting insane windfuries and generally feeling like a god (until I screwed up and died)
Now I’m older, calmer, and really enjoy supporting people with Resto. I still feel like a god, but I’m in control of my power. All with my buddy Lashidu the Troll Shaman. I love that little dude <3
Could be worse. The draenei legs are all messed up looking xD
Meh, I like it being watery but they deff should have kept or added tons of glyphs by now for lots of that kinda stuff.
I kinda also like the new animations they added in legion , it looks good on pandaren. I just wish they had kept the Artifact Ability animation for something
Not sure about Orc animations but for Pandaren it looks like they are casting a strong spell that takes some effort. They grit their teeth and everything, I get the feeling like it takes real effort to pull that much water from the ground/wherever and make it into a rain cloud xD
It might be because we are more stocky and shorter.
I might go check the orc one out quickly. I know some of the newer animations for my priests look odd on certain races.
Oh yeah I just looked up the Orc animation and it looks like it could use some love haha. ( maybe if they didnt arc their back so much, also if they didnt tuck in their chins like you mentioned )
I love how fluid (pun not intended) my healing animations look as a female draenei. My female orc looks like she has to work harder to squirt out healing spells; it must be the fel corruption.
That is what bums me about about changing the animations for male Orc healing. The old healing animation seemed so effortless (which is why I referred to is as the “flick of the writs” heal), yet so powerful at the same time. Now the execution portion of an Orc’s healing animation uses a poopy animation… which Orcs always had but it was used for channeling ranged AOE spells like the original Earthquake or a Warlock’s Rain of Fire spell. It doesn’t have the same fluid, effortless appearance. The idol attack stance makes it look like Orcs struggle at all times to boot!
One thing that also bums me out, aside for the loss of fluidity, is that the original healing animation was a very unique heal. Now the executed portion of the healing animation, is very similar to Male Draenei. Not sure why extra effort was put forth to make a race less unique. Truly sad face!
I am getting by as a dwarf (just wish the totems were cooler and I had bloodlust), but it’s just a shame because, to me, male Orc Shaman use to be the perfect Class/ Race and the changes seem completely unnecessary and unwarranted. Oh Well, I guess poop happens
I wish we had the mop attack and windfury models. But I hate all the updated visuals for orcs hunched over or straight back when we run and stuff it looks so stupid.
Same here. I think the new textures and models are great too. The animations are a whole other story though.
It’s a shame because, before I took a long break, there was mention of updating the animations. I remember seeing that there wouldn’t be major changes to the animations. There would only be updates, so people attached to their characters and animations wouldn’t be disappointed. It’s a shame that statement didn’t stay true. I’d be really bummed if I still played my Spriest. Their unique animation, using the healing execute animation to dish out dps, got pooped on massively
In the end, I just find it really strange that time and effort was used to screw up the Orc healing animation instead of fixing something like the Tauren cast animation that is still broken after 16 years, casting from the right hand (and not between both hands like lightning lasso). It a very scratch head in confusion update.
And now I can’t unsee the run animation due to comments above… poop!
Totem glyphs (or even being able to choose different totem styles in the barbershop) would be really cool and rather quite thematic for the shaman class.
Increayed a drenei shaman when alaince got them in tbc. I have for a long time considered race changing or leveling a dwarf. I think dwarves make hreat looking shaman.
