I upgraded to Windows 11

my hubs is in tech albeit, medical tech, but he still works on/with computers and systems. the word around their group is that 11 is basically obsoleting any computer tech that is less than 1/2 years old. most computers won’t run 11. it’s forcing you to spend money to upgrade your computers to run it. I don’t know if this is still true, or if they’ve tweaked it to not be so noticeable, but he just said that we shouldn’t be too quick to upgrade to 11 this go around. 10 is just fine.

My three year old computer says otherwise. :woman_shrugging:t4:

I wondered, I know we have our computers that are roughly 4ish years old and they mostly meet the requirements, but that testing thing to download 11 said we needed a new oh gosh what was it… not a graphic card but something like that (sorry i’m old i forget easily) and wouldn’t put 11 on ours. (he was testing it out on mine because i’ve got the better stuff in mine)

The big issue a lot of people run into is a setting on their computer that can easily be turned on. I thought I had to ougrade my BIOS. Turns out I just had to check off a box. lol

I hate Windows 11. At least once a day it will notify me and tell me that my system is out of date and that I need to restart and update it. and if I wait it will just auto close everything randomly and update.

Mine meets the requirements but TPM has not been enabled.

I definitely won’t enable until Win11 gets its first major patch and may just wait until until either Win10 is sunset in October 2025. This could change if a major vulnerability emerges or major new feature is published and migrating to Win11 makes sense.

Win11 certainly does have better security especially at the hardware level but the rollout of device drivers was much rougher than it should have been.

not their computers more specifically their phones. also i never said anything about you being a kool aid drinker. not sure why you put that in there. i don’t care if you support apple.i’m not saying your experiences never happened i’m saying the scenario i listed is a real possibility and worthy of concern.

I did a while back. No real difference, but my hardware is overkill for WoW anyway so any changes would be hard to notice.

@OP I use Win11 on my home machine… and the only issue I’ve had is that two times my keyboard was not being recognized in game but it was the OS that was having an issue. It was corrected with a restart.

Only when you set it up. you can sign out of the account after that.

“Windows 11 Pro edition now requires internet connectivity during the initial device setup (OOBE) only.”

they must have changed it then. still a bad idea for those who live out in the boonies or have spotty/bad internet…looking at you comcast.

Well that’s an entirely different and irrelevant point, then.

I never said that you called me that. I put it in there so that people don’t think I’m being biased in my statements, that’s all.

And given my experience with it, I think it’s much less of an issue than you think it is, because that’s not how the logins really work, nor the recoveries.

I unintentionally made the leap a few weeks ago, it runs much faster than the last OS, but to be fair, my last computer was a 2014 Alienware.

Lol reminds me of when my grandma made the jump from vhs to DVD.

She was so nervous like something for real bad could happen

Honestly, my three year old computer runs better on 11 than it did on 10. Everything is faster, including booting up.

why is there a dx 13 in it?..doesnt windows 11 have even more spyware then windows 10?

TPM is enable through the UEFI, and not the OS. So, reboot the system, and hit F12, F10 ect to enter the UEFI setup.

No more than 10. Just have to disable them via settings.

i do that anyway using some programs there are some hidden spyware in win 10 most dont know about.

No That was and still us Windows 7. I was forced into 10 with my new computer and I hate it with a passion. 90% of it is bloat and spyware to track everything you do say search everything. That and you can tell it was designed for tablet and touch screen users, it just look s feel and it is not good for your traditional computer user.

oh yea when i first got my new comp i was forced into win10 and the first thing i did was install chrome and look up a comprehensive turn off all the guide. Vid took me an hour to go though and it crazy how they hide setting behind other settings so when you think you turned this thing off you actually didn’t.
