I try to use tame pet and am getting the error marksman hunters can not call pets
Did your Marksman Hunter correctly talent to allow them to have pets? By default, they can’t as of 11.1. You have to select a talent to regain access to pets. And the talent point is down a couple of rows in the talent tree, meaning it won’t be available to brand-new MM hunters.
It’s three rows down in the MM tree, so level 16?

Same here…Been playing the 20 years woke up to pets being gone. There are some out here that thinks it’s funny well Fu%^ them and Blizzard. I had 4 hunters with lots of pets now gone after hours spent with all of them now Bliz nuks them like it’s there pets…no my pets Aholes and now I offically quit WOW so go FU*&^ ur selves Bliz

Take a look at your spec tree, and you’ll see how to get your pet back.

Thank you so much for pointing this out! I’ve had a pet since the very beginning and had no desire to switch from Marksmanship. Very happy to discover there was a way to get him back.
I feel this way, too, but I’ve discovered that it’s designed to be seriously handicapping in any context where your damage output matters. (Even world content, in places like Undermine where you’ll always pull more than you meant to and survival means winning the multi-enemy DPS race.)
The devs put MM pets back into the game, but not as an equal to their preferred playstyle of no-pets. It’s become a cosmetic/RP option.
