Initial feelings:
I preferred maelstrom over mana. Dunno if its the color or what, but I preferred building up maelstrom and spending it.
Hate the weapon enchants. This was needless micromanage addition. Just something you have to refresh every 60 minutes and lord help you if you forget.
Too much idle time. Everything has a cooldown unless we proc. Hate auto attacking things.
Lightning bolt isn’t instant cast. That was more for legacy content just one shotting things from a distance at the drop of a hat.
Windfury totem being a spammable active ability. I get that we used to do this in the past, but since its a single buff why didn’t they just make it a passive?At the very least they could have given us the totem bar back so things don’t get cluttered.
Idk I dislike enhancement atm. I really liked it in legion and bfa. This is a hard pill to swallow.

I don’t know how it’s possible. Why is enhancement so bad? It plays worse than it did before. Maybe it will get better with gear. idk. Right now the spec is clunky AF.

This change is purely them going back to what Enhancement used to be, and is something a good amount of people prefer.
I hated the builder spender gameplay. Building Maelstrom is not fun and it killed the spec for me. I do not like the blue rage bar.
Idle time feels like a non-issue. I’ve been playing Enhancement almost non-stop on the Beta, and there’s occasionally a lapse in single target. Other than that, the spec flows incredibly.
Weapon enchants are… there. I’m not a fan of needing to apply them, but it tends to be a non-issue.
I am extremely happy to have the Wrath to WoD version back.

It’s different for sure. The only sore points for me are the fire talents / lava lash still being far inferior to SS and the half-finished feeling in general or MSW spenders feeling lackluster (they are basically just flexible filler at the moment). Surviability in PvP was never addressed either which is disappointing.

I know it’s an obsolete ability because you don’t need to build maelstrom anymore, but I really liked Rockbiter/Boulderfist as just a nice filler ability to lessen the idle time, since it was usually off cooldown when the rest of your abilities weren’t.
The fact that it had a bit of range on it as well was also a plus. Felt like it gave you more opportunity to keep pressure on an opponent in pvp when they were trying to kite you.
Why does it feel like there’s so much downtime?
I dont care for aoe rotations I want to kill a guy and half of the time I build up enough maelstrom for one heal before the fights really over

Use earthen spike or sundering. It helps fill in the gaps if you’re doing the rotation the way that gives you a ton of downtime.
It’s a priority system. If you have to choose between a short cooldown or a long cooldown, choose the short cooldown.
Enhancement is a spec I will likely never play again. It feels terrible, and I had played it’s old iteration that this is trying to mimic. It is clunky and slow with bad defensives, and no coherence between abilities. Easily one of the least viable pvp specs as well.

I love seeing people complain about downtime with Enh because it’s a direct result of playing the spec wrong. It’s barely noticeable when you do the rotation correctly.

You get like, maybe 5 seconds of downtime in a minute if you’re playing the spec correctly. Time that can be used to replace Windfury totem due to fight movement.

Not really, the spec has downtime built in as a result of getting bad rng, which will be significantly worse at 60 until later patches. Frankly, the spec is not fun, and lacks the flow of what they’re trying to emulate from the past.

If you’re getting too much down time per minute (about 4 GCDs) then you either lack enough haste or screwing up the rotation.
Yes the gameplay does have downtime built in but that town time makes laying down totems not actually hurt our DPS.
If you don’t like the downtime or feel like you have too much, pick up Ice strike, Sundering, and Earthen spike. Those will give you four extra buttons to push (since ice strike resets the cooldown of the shocks).
Well we were a poor mans fury warrior in legion and bfa. So if you like that playstyle hey guess what smf is back so you can dw 1h again as a warrior so there is that.
And again these changes have been up for a while…People are acting like this change was not announced.

Not in my eyes.
Heres the thing, people dont scour the internet or play ptr and beta. This is their first experience with the changes. And any feedback would have been ignored anyway.
If you mean enhance being inferior as a flavor in SL then I guess I’d prefer to be “the same” like we were in bfa
Agree with all of this, but have been roasted in forums for saying as much in the past.
My favorite was a dude who aggressively defended making our passive buffs active nanny imbues as the absolute “best change ever” to the spec… because flavor
