I told my wife to git good

You don’t have to run competitive content together. Or better yet teach her how to play her class

Mechagnome logic. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m an 8 years married woman and i have to say: Do not play competitive games with your wife/husband

Dota almost wrecked my marriage 'cause of argumentations about my plays as mid and his plays as HC… and i’ve met him in a Dota match lol

Lol. There are plenty of people who just have no idea how to play this game and no matter how much others try to help them it just doesn’t work.

I think it depends. Sharing any kind of hobby, including videogames, can be a blessing. It can even be the initial reason for a love affair.
But it needs the right approach from both. The “git gud” approach will wreck anything. Including “just friends”.

Its hard to be comprehensive when it costs your MMR lol

but yes, playing together is amazing when you have the right attitude

Look, there is no “right” way to play WoW.
Just wandering around, galloping or soaring on your fav mounts, swimming in the pools, relaxing fishing, driving your fishing raft down waterfalls, climbing mountains, booping Vulpera snoots, taking screenshots of the breathtaking landscapes, etc, is a perfectly legit way. As much as playing for the hardest challenges.
The problem is that for many the former way of playing is having “no idea of how to play this game”.
We don’t need to “git gud”. We are gud enough already, thanks.

Pushing mythic raids and high keys, yeh there is a right way to play this game and if someone is going to choose the wrong talents, the wrong trinkets, wrong enchants and gems, than yeh they are playing the game wrong.

@OP: Video or it didn’t happen. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

On the other hand, and someone who really IS married, and who’s wife really DOES play, I’ll say that she does show limited engagement in Shadowlands. She likes Torghast. A lot. She LOVES the powers and how gloriously OP you can get. Jailer’s Gauntlet is especially fun. Back in Legion we actually used to run Mythics fairly regularly. We don’t now, but I don’t think there’s anything specific about Shadowlands that’s the reason. She would like an easier way to get gear, and maybe during Legion we had more free time to run regularly. Or we made free time more easily. I don’t know.

If Torghast dropped gear, though, let’s just say I’d be a happy guy. Happy Wife = Happy Life!!!

Yes, they are playing the game wrong, but not for that reason. It’s wrong because they should avoid mythic raids and high keys. Or even any raids and any keys.

One should not conflate the “right” way of playing the game with the right way to do specific activities in the game, as all elitists and tryhards do.
If one sucks at “pushing keys”, they are not playing the play wrong. They are just pushing keys wrong.
An example: spending time climbing mountains, even when you can fly, is not playing the game wrong. If you keep falling down, it only shows that you suck at climbing mountains.
But if one keeps failing in some activities, and has no fun with them, and insist in doing them, yes, in that case they are playing the game wrong. And likely we’ll see them in this forum saying that WoW sucks, and they will switch to Elden Ring. :stuck_out_tongue:

I wonder what the cause is of this sometimes. Part of me thinks it’s largely to do with men put women on such a pedestal now that it’s basically blasphemy to disagree. It’s like their minds default to “Woman said thing, my thing invalid now.” If I had to guess, activities in teenage years mixed with whatever they’re taught by their peers. When I say activities, particularly with regards to the large influx of anime viewing and video gaming. These are not testosterone inducing things which does impact a lot of a guy’s development, namely their self confidence. There’s a stark contrast between a two guys of the same age but one stayed sheltered inside playing video games all through their adolescence and the other actually went out and did things with friends, usually dumb things. They carry themselves way different in person.

Ironically, the generation behind the Zoomers (Gen Z, whatever) is called Generation Alpha and it’s just now beginning. Male children are already exhibiting exponentially higher levels of estrogen in their systems, likely due to what they are fed/baby formula. I can’t imagine these guys are going to be well off, they’re going to get walked all over even more.

While it’s true men shouldn’t just trample on women, women shouldn’t just trample on men either. Even more so when you realize if you’re willing to degrade yourself in that manner, she will eventually get sick of it and either get angry at you, or just find something that keeps her more engaged which usually means a guy with a spine.

there is a difference between not having the ability and just not wanting to put in any effort. sure if someone never wants to get good and is just tagging along to humor someone things aren’t gonna get better.

Not having the ability (due to age, lack of reflexes, whatnot) and just not wanting to put the effort is, in practice, the same thing. The former is just more frustrating, but the result is the same. In both cases they should stick to other activities, unless they have fun failing. And pushing a fellow player into doing unfun things is borderline (or outright, depending on the attitude) bullying.

All this rosey spend time together talk is nice but face it this game isn’t designed for that. It’s designed for max output or replace the player. Good luck keeping friends

Pure unwisdom.

P.S.
Or not, depending on what you mean.

I wish my Wife or kid would play. I wouldn’t discourage them.

Surely ya’ll know that’s straight up bait.

Or else, he’s just super elitest and not being sarcastic.

The effect, coming from soy based formulae, were noted in female babies, not in male. These formulae were largely discontinued four years ago (2018) as the issue emerged.

Here are samples of the research I could find on the subject:

Speaking from experience: I think you’ll find your solo end-game a hell of a lot less satisfying than playing with loved ones. You can both play with your wife and not be a dick about her skill level and push higher end content if you so desire.
