Just spent an hour getting to the last boss of torghast just to die 6 times in a row. Yeah yeah I know, just git gud, but I thought the entire point of torghast was supposed to be a place where you let loose and have fun and don’t worry? Guess I misunderstood what all the beta testers were making videos about. Crazy that visions were easier and less of a hassle.
It only took you an hour?
I don’t know why they’ve messed with Torghast like this.
It was perfect, then when us Beta testers bounced to go play the Pre-patch they re-tuned everything.
It’s to keep us low-lifes out, I think. LOL
Isn’t that what the Twisting Corridors are for? Granted they’re not open yet (I dunno why) but a run where you just let loose for 18 floors at a time, and you’re not trying to earn a “valuable currency” still sounds like fun.
I must’ve misunderstood what Torghast was then. I was picturing a Mage Tower type challenge not bop a mole cruise fest.
You can definitely become very op. You can get abilities that deal up to 50% of the enemies hp, including bosses and elites, in one hit with a throwing ability. Or even 10% health everytime you interrupt an ability. I’ve had both and even got so much tankiness one run as a melee dps I could tank the last boss easy.
I think they detected fun.
Now if only higher difficulties rewarded less soul ash so that newbies that can’t do them wouldn’t feel like they absolutely need to in order to have legendaries.
I wish they would do that.
I guess, I mean I dropped EVERYTHING to play Torghast it was so fun, I spec’d for the towers, I geared for the towers and spent literally 2 entire months of my game life in there playing everything all the way up to layer 8 in Twisted Corridors.
Nobody and I mean NOBODY complained about Torghast on Beta it was unanimous that it was fun, hell it only took 30 minutes tops.
Twisted Corridors was SO MUCH FUN, damn you were so OP with 50+ stacked OP anima powers the Boss would take a beating, but it was still a challenge and so the fun remained.
For the longest time our bags filled with placeholder epic loot, we also got Stygia in Torghast which meant you could farm the towers and bypass the Maw pretty much altogether, players WILL find a way lol.
Then in the final weeks, the loot got removed, the Stygia got removed and then at the very end when we’d all bounced for pre-patch they blew up the scaling on the bosses and literally ruined the experience for many.
It has left me very deflated, so much so that on live I still haven’t progressed to Torghast, I’m just going to be heartbroken when I go in there again and see what they’ve done to some of the most fun I’ve had in years and realize it’s gone.
I was so excited to make real progress thinking about Torghast during pre-patch and remembering what a fool I must have looked like saying how damned cool Torghast was. I feel like the worlds biggest clown right now I won’t lie. Oh well.
With the anima powers that you get, you can come up with some pretty unique play styles. I’ve never seen any of the videos but if the beta testers were putting out videos of them screwing around, then I’m going to guess that’s why. Funky/fun combos.
Well when they knew people were having fun that was the sign that things needed to change. it was part of the change instead of just going up in floors with op abilites that they had to cap it for your own good!. Now your fun is bitsized and tied to the resrouce instead of other things… like a leader board or cosmetics or mounts.
I can’t tell you how much this has upset me, not just for me, I mean for everyone, Torghast on a Shadow Priest was SO MUCH FUN, holy cow, I went in expecting to get eaten alive but it was a total blast.
Such a shame.
You can get very OP, however you need RNG to do so. They need to buff or remove all the useless powers. Feels awful when RNG says no.
It’s fine to make mistakes, it happens.
I think one factor that changed was the starter gear that beta provided to players was better than what we all have now. The tower may feel better in a few months when people get to those levels again. But clearly, something is still very wrong with it.
I didn’t use a pre-made, I leveled with the in game gear, only exception being trinkets which we could buy @ ilvl 225 at lvl 60.
Gear was out there though, I got to 180+ without too much effort, many times due to character wipe.
Gear acquisition was fine during Beta, I still had plenty of upgrades but no over saturation really, I wasn’t vendoring a ton of gear like in BfA for example.
Then as Beta reached it’s end and pre-patch loomed they dialed everything back and I made my distaste for this known in Beta.
It’s just so crazy that they go from one extreme right across to the next extreme.
Makes no sense and I think it disrupts the game some.
/hugs
Did you get the OP upgrades? Also the harder layers need high lvl gear. Your not going to be OP when your undergeared.
It is
Unless you’re the wrong class
I love The Hunt instant reset power (if you kill within 20 sec).
It’s like a one button spec. BAM BAM BAM …
Just wasted another 75min in Torghast to hit an impossible math wall at the end…
This is getting seriously tiresome. I’ve played several rogue-likes over the years and I can confidently say this is the absolute WORST variant I’ve seen.
- It takes entirely too long to discover that RNG is not in your favor
- The floors in general just take too long to play through; as a secondary game mode, this should not take up Hours of my time, especially with the point being working toward other content
- I’m ok with RNG to a point, but too frequently there’s bad combinations of abilities given; continues to emphasize the lack of math/algorithm skills of the development team
This is supposed to be an exciting new game mode, not something that feels like a bloody slog of walking down a hallway getting punched in the face and then only once in a blue moon actually reaching the door at the end.
