After taking off the rose-tinted goggles I’ve realized that Classic is probably not any better than retail, and may even be worse. I’ve never played retail so I can’t say for sure. Maybe I should go to retail?
Ooof try that and report back to us.
Is your name Protectus like Protect us from the enemy or Protectus like Galactus?
I saw an arms warrior named executus and thought it was a cool name, but I wanted to be a prot warrior so I went with protectus. So yeah it should be read as a single word
Give retail a try for a bit and see how you feel. The questing while leveling is pretty entertaining.
Can I have your stuff?
Maybe. There are some good things about Retail. There are some good things about Classic.
If you find yourself only raid logging atm on Classic, then it might not be a bad time to try out Retail, and see for yourself.
I play both. Prefer retail for all aspects of the game over classic but i really like playing classic coz of the relevance the old world has. Retail doesnt have that due to expansions. classic has some neat quests that talk of looming corruption in silithus, or felwood stuff and ofc the explorers league quests are neat. So basically ive found things that interest me in both games. Its possible.
8/10 for good parody, especially the title.
I played both. Retail is so brain-numbingly boring that Adventure Quest was actually more fun, which would make sense considering Adventure Quest is similar to the old RPG games of the past.
Classic is definitely not for everyone, and it never was. I’ll never leave Classic because I’m having the time of my life.
I can’t take the “having the time of my life” seriously. The game has been out for months, how can this be the most fun thing you ever did in your life?
I mean, do you know his life? Maybe he lives on a farm.
I enjoyed leveling more than I’ve enjoyed max level content. I’ve had good fun playing alts as well.
I’ve sort of gotten back on the max level horse due to AV/WSG being released though so we’ll see how long that lasts.
Well, duh. Of course classic is gonna suck, when blizzard is intentionally trying to make it fail.
Assuming you’re not trolling, then retail isn’t so bad. The thing is, I just wouldn’t recommend it right now, not until BFA is over. The neck and essence grind just make it unbearable for anyone not having been there since day 1.
Overall, it is good for anyone not familiar with it. There’s voice acting and cutscenes, high quality cinematics, and some very silly and fun quests in the 1-60 areas.
The problem is no sense of progression and you actually getting weaker as you level up. Hopefully, they promised to address these things next expac. Overall, it’s not bad.
You can also play what you want. Player skill matters more than the class you play.
Many people’s nostalgia for Classic is actually nostalgia for TBC or Wrath. Think you’ll have more fun when a classic expansion is released
I suppose it depends on what goal you had in mind for Classic.
Mine was to see how I would perform as a warrior instead of a shaman leveling up. If I would do any better than I did when I first played vanilla.
In sense I’ve succeeded by reaching level 60 relatively easily and having some decent gear to mow down your average mobs with and a decent amount of gold to flick around.
The next challenge seems to be getting some purples through raiding but its difficult as a Fury warrior and more based more on luck and chance I feel than any perceived wall of difficulty. I’d likely have to be more tanky or speced prot just to have a mere claim to any of the set gear that drops.
Either way the exalted rep with the FWs in AV will be a taste I suppose of having epics and by then I’ll know if chasing any more is worth the time.
How did he misunderstand the comment?
I’ve realized that Classic is probably not any better than retail, and may even be worse. I’ve never played retail so I can’t say for sure.
This can literally be interpreted as “Retail ≥ Classic. I’ve never played Retail.”
How can one say anything about how good or bad Retail is or how it compares to Classic without having played the game? I suppose the only inaccuracy in his summation would be that the OP didn’t actually state that Classic is bad.
To the OP: You should absolutely try retail if you want to be able to make a direct, personal comparison between games. If nothing else you’ll be able to know for sure which iteration of the game you prefer.

I’ve realized that Classic is probably not any better than retail, and may even be worse. I’ve never played retail so I can’t say for sure.

flawed statement
Don’t see a flaw… he said “may” be worse
Give it a couple weeks. People will calm down with the battle grounds and things will normalize a bit.
Once people realize that only like 5% of the population is ever gonna see those High Warlord honor rewards, and it only takes a couple weeks to casually saunter to exalted with AV things will go back to the way that they were, and BWL will be out before you know it.
