Ok so i realize how to use aim shot now and how you combine it with other spell that you have but yea i though it was bad. I wonder if reducing arcane shot reduce aim shot too . Reducing from 1 sec would allow to aim shot auto multi aim shot back to back just wondering
Aim shot cancel your auto attack dont scale of your attack speed.
I notice when i cast aim shot during a pull i never pull aggro because my dps is actually lower
its even worse if you use a bow with a proc
like verdant keeper’s aim
Well you can not use it, or use it and 2 shot clothies, up to you. Generally when I use Aim Shot it is vs another player, and not usually on mobs since without BM pet aggro is a lot lower.
aimed shot is an opening attack which is not typically suppose to be used in combat. there are cases where you might use aimed shot mid combat, like in pvp where you can aimed shot crit then crowd control your enemy, then aim shot crit again, and such at higher levels, but for the most part you are not going to be aimed shot spamming in pve.
Aimed shot is amazing you just have to set it up right… You want a slowww bow. The slower the bow/gun more than likely it will have more base damage. More base damage, bigger aimed shot. And you aren’t suppose to be canceling your autos with aimed shot as your suppose to wait until you auto first > then cast an aimed shot. Same goes for multishot. This is why they say hunters have a low skill floor as anyone can play them decently, but a high skill ceiling as it’s harder to play them optimally.
Some thing like that. You can make a full set of macro to include you auto shot… my feigned death has canceled and pet passice ice trap… but to each their own.
i don’t know i feel like having a lot of attack speed if i get a hawk proc i pop rapid fire my bow end proc like crazy . I barely use aim shot atm since i have a proc weapon and it goes again hawk proc
Again this is a terrible design, having and ability that goes again most bow in the game
I mean, if you want an honest opinion I think imp hawk is a waste of 5 talents while leveling. As a hunter you kill these extremely fast anyway and really the only thing that you should be worried about is stuff that will help you increase your uptime (pet health/mana reduction/etc) because most of your damage is coming from your pet anyway.
If you choose to play like that then that’s great! But there’s not always an upside to every single playstyle, and if aimed shot was just a static damage piece along with all your other abilities then it would be useless to go a slow bow/gun, and THAT would be bad design.
Terrible design would be if it were a brain dead press on cooldown ability that required no thought to get the most of. What we have here is good design.
I’m assuming you’re talking about 2.8 speed quill shooter with nature damage proc.
Very basic math not taking a lot into account here:
Autoshot, Aimed shot means you just waited .2 seconds longer for next auto shot and will now get 2 more auto shots in before next aimed is off CD.
So every 2 auto shots gets an aimed shot added in at the cost of .2 seconds and the benefit of a way bigger hit and another chance at a proc off your bow.
This sequence will have to happen several times to reach the 2.8 seconds to account for a single autoshot loss.
Aimed shot is a significant dps boost.
When you have a bunch of attack speed procs up, probably not worth using.
Well this comment really applies to the phase with BWL, but…
IF you aimed shot with the baby i had,
Ashjre’thul, Crossbow of Smiting,
with a 3.4 second cast, aimed shot THAT against that mage you hated for AOE farming your quest mobs, crit, and you will take his head CLEAN off. Popping cloth heads like pimples.
curious about the part you say most damage is from pet? I assume you are assuming a BM spec? I am leveling as i did in vanilla as a MM. It’s my chosen play style and I like it. Your other comments were intelligent and understandable, but i’d disagree that my pet hits harder than I do, as an MM
BM leveling is the single best leveling spec. Especially if you like/are forced to solo and don’t dungeon(which is like everyone that isn’t a cleave class these days)
I’m speaking about BM. I never leveled as MM as I was constantly going OOM or pulling threat off my pet which sort of sucked. That or I would just be sitting there auto attacking in which case it was still meh.
As BM I always leveled with a cat because of how fast their AS is, have one of the highest base damage, amazing modifiers, and also have 2 damage spending abilities (bite for the opener for tons of damage and claw for the quick extra attacks). On top of this, at level 40, your pet will be a TANK, you will almost never have to stop and wait to heal him. Also with talents they have things such as 20% increased damage, 15% extra crit, increasing AS by 30% WHEN they crit (which pairs nice with cats), and of course BW which can let you solo a lot of group quests as your pets damage increases by an additional 50%.
All you really have to do is send the pet in, AA, and move to the next target. As MM it just seemed a little slower to me overall.
