I think we can all agree this expansion missed the mark

But maybe blizzard needs to come out and admit that? They “put their foot down” with covenants, among other stubborn design decisions, and it has literally cost them a good chunk of the playerbase at this point.

Eventually WoW won’t be able to sustain itself simply off the fact its Warcraft and “the mmo”. Because let’s face it, that’s the only reason its on top anymore.

And I’m not even on here saying its dying or that a new mmo is gonna kill it, I’m saying playerbase is moving on.

Why should I spend 15 dollars a month for an endless and soulless grind when I can go pay 45 dollars for a game like Divinity Original Sin 2 and experience what an rpg can be at peak quality?

Hell there are so many great games out there I haven’t played yet because i’ve put so much time into WoW, and these games actually have devs behind them that listen to feedback and give the changes the players WANT.

I just don’t have the motivation anymore, and by the looks of things, I’m not the only one. I know that the game will limp on, there are plenty of players on this forum alone who will shill and defend the game to their dying breath, but it certainly isn’t a slowly sinking ship I want to go down with.

For those of you wondering what you are going to play after you leave WoW I do recommend you try single player rpg’s, you’d be surprised how great playing a game is when there isn’t other players to ruin your experience.

Open up, play new games in new genres. There is no point to waste your time on a game like WoW if you aren’t having fun anymore. And for those who ARE having fun? Great! Enjoy the game while it lasts because nothing lasts forever.

I agree with you. If this is the best the devs can do than I’m out. The classes are boring and unbalanced. The Covenant system is bad. Conduits are bad. Torghast is boring and unforgiving. Pvp is a complete clown show. Can’t do this anymore

I don’t think this expansion is bad per say. There’s definitely a design philosophy problem that permeates the game as a whole these days. Raiding and Mythic+ are the main focus, and everything else seems designed to keep players on a treadmill for as long as possible. Story is an afterthought, and the devs never met a system they didn’t like, and if they did, they’d fix it with another system.

In the past, with previous game directors all the little tricks to keeping players engaged were subtly woven into the game and you hardly noticed because you were having fun and didn’t care. Unfortunately Ion is about as subtle as a bagpiper with a cracked reed when it comes to cynical ploys to keep people on that treadmill. Keep the reward levels low, and keep people running slightly more difficult variations of identical content over and over again. It does keep people engaged, but often out of frustration more than fascination like they once were.

I am enjoying the raiding and m+ a lot.

The cov system can be tweaked to be a ton more forgiving/flexible.

I feel like the answer is obvious here.

If you like single player party based RPGs. I of course think you should play DOS2 instead. Two completely different genres.

Sounds like MMOs aren’t for you. Doesn’t sound like a WoW complaint at all.

Zapey AGREES.

Blizard is pushing their player base AWAY.

Nah, I’m having fun.

I think the expansion has flaws, but for me personally I’m enjoying myself a lot and think I’m getting great value out of my subscription.

I don’t know why people can’t just share their opinions without some baseless claim to authority like “I think we can all agree” or “EVERYONE hates X” or whatever.

No, we do not all agree on that. I think it’s a fantastic expansion. I do worry about the pace of content development despite the money Blizzard rakes in, but other than that, I am enjoying the expansion very much. I think most of you people have unreasonable expectations to be honest.

Like in FFXIV, when Yoshi humbled himself to the community, saying the launch was a failure, then shut it down to do it right?

Ion can’t admit he ordered the wrong pizza topping, let alone something as genuine and profound as that.

WoW will still thrive because classic servers are the opposite of retail servers.
I know i’m making the switch permanently.

Well, they can’t all be winners, but I think we all also need to admit that the trend hasn’t been good lately, either.

I don’t see the thing with covenants, they’ve made it so boring that I can’t even pretend to care about it.

And their design choices with this team and the direction they’ve taken things has been for me a sign that they are relying too much on safe ideas that have been done before.

Bare minimum, replayable content that they can skirt around as to not have to put in more output for more creative content.

Much more design choices in this expansion that literally creates pseudo content out of rewards x200 that should of been implemented from the get go which would of made me feel like the content was rewarding at least.

And this never ending grind to unlock another grind for 0.0003 better rewards.

Optional? Sure but if 99% of this game is optional and most of it is the bare minimum and boring then why play it.

Nope, we ALL can’t agree this expansion missed the mark, or anything else for that matter.

And there again, you can’t please all the people all of the time. If it’s not giving you what you want, there’s nothing wrong with moving on to something you actually enjoy.

And I believe I may have stumbled upon your problem with WoW.

Thanks! I’m having a blast! I hope you find the same wherever you land.

How can you not enjoy keeping up with Enema, ash, renown, valor, conduits, and all the other garbage systems they implemented in this expansion is the real question

Very little of that you have to actually “keep up with”

It’s 50/50 to me I’m doing the best of the situation. But in my eyes the smoke from the fire is stinging.

Started playing Deep Rock Galactic.

It was such a welcome change of pace, what true difficult co-op should be in a video game, and real genuine fun.

Great community too, no one yelling at each other to eat poop or die of cancer, which is normal in WoW if you so much as press the wrong button.

Coders and software designers everywhere worked at home and didn’t put out crap. Why? Because they would lose their jobs if they did.
