I think the WOW Devs are trying to get Mages killed

I’m thinking that no WOW dev plays mage. If they did, they would see how ridiculously slow the cast time for Pyroblast is, which allows enemies to attack freely. In 11.1 they just took away Fire Phoenix leaving us with only 2. They would also see that making Arcane Missiles proc only hurts damage output based on enemy health bars.

Yeah, I’m playing fire mage right now and it’s level 75. I had a level 80 but swapped to alliance and just leveled a fresh one instead of wasting 25 bucks on faction change. It’s slower now and fire leveling is atrocious now.

I remember getting more fire blasts before 11.1 when I played sunfury and we had 3 charges of phoenix flames, now we have two, so I’m spamming fireballs more, even in combustion I have downtime wasting precious seconds. Fire just feels off but I’m going to keep playing it.

Hardcast Pyroblast and non-proc Arcane Missiles. These sure are two takes of all time.

There was a passive ability called tempered flames that reduced the cast time of pyroblast by 30% I think. It was extremely helpful in combat. That was removed in 11.0. Without the spell the cast time is long regardless of gear. Arcane missiles does a ton of damage. So combat was easier when it was non proc.

Homie cast Fireball/Frostfire Bolt?? If this is conceptually too difficult for you, you’re going to have a VERY hard time with MOST other specs in this game. Respectfully.

I like doing as much damage as I can before they reach me without slowing them down.

You use Fireball/Frostfire Bolt to build Heating Up procs and then Fire Blast or Phoenix Flames to guarantee Hot Streak proc for instant Pyroblast casts. The only reason to hard-cast a Pyroblast ever is if you have Sun King’s Blessing talented and have the proc for that.

For me, my go to spell is pyroblast because of the damage it does.

Baby you will be casting a ton of them, just chain your Heating Up procs into Hot Streak procs. That’s literally how the spec has worked since forever.

Like I said, you can guarantee Hot Streak procs, so it’s not like this is hard. The only RNG part is getting the Heating Up proc.

But isn’t pyroblast a good starter spell? And I think other attacks create procs.

You shouldn’t hard cast Pyroblast no. It’s only good to hard cast with the talent Flame Accelerant (which I personally think is a bad talent and messes up the flow of the rotation), Sun King’s Blessing, or if you really want to- before the pull on a boss or pack.

Otherwise, thinking of Fireball/Frostfire Bolt as your primary filler/Heating Up proc builder and getting the hang of that is how you need to learn to play the spec.

Make sure you have the talent “Call of the Sun King” which makes Phoenix Flames always crit, this is crucial. Then, Fire Blast and Phoenix Flames should be used any time you have a Heating Up proc for guaranteed Hot Streak proc—> into instant Pyroblast.

My rotation is pyroblast, phoenix flames, meteor. It’s always worked for me. I also use dragon breath and blast wave.

Hey you can play the game however you want, it’s just not the optimal or intended way to do it.

You should not be hard casting Pyroblast to fish for heating up procs.

It’s my go to spell because of the damage it deals.

I know. You said that before, but doing more DPS is not just “this button has bigger number so press this one”. It’s extremely inefficient to fish for heating up procs via Pyroblast.

I bought a car but it won’t go forward when I turn the volume up on the sound system. Going to trade it in if they won’t fix it.

I’m confused how pyroblast is not the best spell. Isn’t damage output what matters in combat?

Are you trolling? It certainly seems like it.
