Because Blizzard literally said they wanted to force people to join guilds when they banned GDKP?
At least in SoD, the official Blizzard stance is “join a guild”.
If you don’t want that, go play another version of WoW or just unsub altogether.

You guys complaining about pug groups not letting you in know its insanely easy to form your own ten man group right? Advertise for dps and you will get more tells than you can respond to. Tanks dont seem to take that long to find either. You may have to wait a bit for healers but still nothing is holding you back from making your own group except maybe laziness and wanting to just ride the coat tails of someone elses group leading
So if toxic raiding doesn’t exist, why do people need to join a guild to avoid it?
You have a point there.
The premise of the post is the ‘toxic raid meta’ IE: A metagame were most/all raiding is conducted in a toxic manner, doesn’t exist.
No one is saying there are not pockets of bad experiences you can find yourself it. And no one is denying that those bad experiences are a subset of the pug-through-trade-chat world.
But I do like your business model:
It’s impressive.
The post is a lie. Toxic raiding absolutely exists and it exists massively in the PuG community. To suggest it’s a “myth” is to ignore facts.
The suggestion you need to “join a guild” is like saying your water in your house is toxic so buy bottles of water. Does that make the toxic go away? No. It’s a work around and every single person trying to say the toxic raid community isn’t there says “join a guild”. For the record, joining a guild doesn’t guarantee you avoid it either so that’s another stretch of the truth.
youre totally right =D
It’s sad to see how truly pathetic some of you all are.
If you’re having this much trouble with pugging, maybe that says something about your reputation on your realm.
Ooh, interesting take. I joined a guild, but in p1 i had 6 toons that i raided with. Now, said guild doesnt run 6 times per lockout. Im lucky they even do 1 alt raid.
4 of my characters were pugging. I’ve seen my fair share of raids, but all of the “toxic” raids are very filterable. Living Flame has a server blacklist for this sort of thing. C******* C**** is an example of a guild with a 100% ninja rate (censored). Avoid them, and similar blacklists, and you will have a good time.
Don’t feed the troll. Gwenn joins every single post just to take a stance opposite the OP. Then says weird things to prompt fights.
Most pugs wouldnt even take you to raid on my server because you made a mistake at character creation screen.
Can you please Add Warrior being the weakest in PVP by a far margin?
valid point, i got you.
“Why should I have to make friends to engage in this social activity”
Well, you don’t, but social activities usually have less friction when you know the people you’re involved with
Sorry your gearscore/parses arent high enough to be my friend -average pug raid leader
Because this is an old school mmo that is centered around socialization. If you want a solo friendly game that’s what retail caters to.
I absolutely agree that the problem is likely less significant within a guild that organizes and raids with guild members.
You may be seeing a lot of posts from people who are not in a raiding guild, who were previously (phase 1) able to raid regularly without any issues.
Yeah other people gatekeeping you is unfortunately part of the design of vanilla wow, heh. There are no other systems in place. Talking to other people literally is the matchmaking system. You can’t design away peoples’ party preferences.
“I have to talk to people and make friends and connections for a social group activity, WAAAHHH WAAAHH evil ‘gatekeeping’ WAAHHH”.
Your playing the wrong video game genre if you are offended that you have to talk to people.
Wanting to join a group for an hour or two doesn’t mean you want to play a solo game. Blocking “free agent” / puggers from raiding is, for sure, a “vanilla” mindset… and one that I don’t agree with.
