Right now the current system for finding groups is absolutely riddled with issues. Many people have said they think that RaiderIO is the problem, but its really only a symptom of a much larger issue. However I have a proposed system that would be so much better then what we have now.
Proposed System for Mythic+
- Every player gets a rating that is dungeon specific.
- There are score brackets one needs to qualify for higher Mythic+ keys based on that score.
- Score is rewarded for timing keys. If there is extra time left over when I key is completed you get an even higher score.
- Score gain at the end is negated by damage taken from avoidable enemy attacks, not correctly performing certain enemy mechanics needed to beat the fight, performing below a certain threshold in dps or healing. As well as not timing the key. You also get score reduced if you leave.
- You can loose score and be demoted to lower tiers.
- You can only run with people within 10 ilevels of each other. However if ques take to long it starts looking for higher ilevel players. This prevents hosts from getting carried and helps keep score ratings more accurate.
- Scores decay over time when not playing that specific dungeon for a while.
Some extra safeguards in case someone leaves
- If someone leaves and they are a dps, the remaining people get 20% extra damage. If they are a healer, everyone gets 20% leech. If they are a tank everyone takes 20% less damage.
- Groups with teams that have left get a slight bonus in scores and reduction in lost score.
- Only works with a maximum of one person leaving and people can only get the buff in one group per 2 hours to prevent abuse.
What problems this system would solve:
- Would increase the likeliness that someone participating has the necessary skill to participate in that dungeon in a more measurable and accurate way that isn’t prone to human error.
- No longer necessary to grind dungeons irrelevant to the dungeon you are trying to master just to get an arbitrary score up to make it look like one has experience.
- Prevents hosts from essentially getting themselves carried by only inviting people high ilevel and high raidio score.
- Thus making the process of progression much smoother. Especially for dps that have to deal with so much competition from other dps.
- Saves a lot of time. Instead of trying to constantly apply for groups you just que up and when the group is ready you go to the dungeon.
Final Note:
I’ve seen this system used in many games. Its system that is proven that can work very well.
EDIT: For solving the issue of needing certain class or specs it can be as such that you can set conditions to having certain classes and specs in the groups you que for.
