I think SotFO was a fun raid, but horribly tuned and implemented

SotFO has been an interesting raid honestly, overall it was a lot of fun. Yet I feel like it broke a lot of guilds with how unforgiving it was. Which as we’ve seen with all these weekly nerfs to it. Seems like they just went overboard with mechanics and tuning honestly. As the alliance hall of Fame still is not closed, currently there are 46 spots left that no one has claimed yet.

Which is telling in a way of how hard the raid was, and why it broke top end guilds like aster and midwinter.

I do hope that they dial it back a little in dragonflight. I’d didn’t feel like doing the staggered release, especially with tier sets didn’t do well at all. I get they were trying to push out how long the world first race would last, along with the hall of Fame. Yet all they accomplished is leading to a lot of burnout that’s really caused the games population to dip really low.

Aesthetically speaking and design wise the flights were fun, yey they just simply were extremely unforgiving. Which meant it was very hard to recover, even when it was a good pull.

Hard disagree, pugged 7/11H week one with 248-253 ilevel, no tier or double leggos. The ONLY fight that was overturned was Andy. Normal Andy was as hard as Heroic Jailer was after the first nerf.

I mean heroic was a joke compared to mythic, like it’s not even a fair comparison between the two. In any case a lot of the fights on mythic were screamingly hard honestly, and are why the alliance hall of Fame is still open.

Oh well apparently this guy pugged to 7/11 heroic

Clearly the raid was fine difficulty wise, all those world first mythic raiders are the ones who are wrong, the raid was too easy if anything

Shame it is a completely unverifiable claim as well lol. Odd take that none of the fights before anduin were to hard compared to past heroic fights pre double lego and tier.

Yeah this sure sounds like a well balanced tier.

To be fair pre tier and double leggo it was hard. Yet the previous fights were mostly created with this in mind, and I feel like why anduin was tuned a bit higher as a result due to him being the end boss first week.

I mean mythic is supposed to be hard? Most guilds that broke up are aotc guilds. They are WAY down.

I’m interested in questioning how far ‘dialing back a little’ is intending, because it really isn’t very hard to tune at a level that is far too easy for people in the World First race.

The question does become why are raids being tuned so only world first/the very top can finish it?

I think mythic raids still need to be “reasonably achievable” by people who are not just the 1% of WoW’s players. Wrath might have done it best with a weekly buff. Let the top of the top duke it out and then everyone gets a good chance of beating the damn thing after.

The tuning currently is probably because the World First Race is a huge community event, and Blizz probably feels obligated to provide a worthy challenge to match it.

The weekly buff was probably the best way of subtle nerfing, though I would miss the disbelieving laughter I got reading the recent super-nerfs.

The flat % buffs don’t really work in modern mythic where there are multiple simultaneous 1 mistake raid wipe mechanics going out to random people.

It’s a different game.

These recent massive 90% nerfs are to fundamentally change a mechanic and how it’s handled.

30% more damage is nothing compared to how they just changed Anduin to where touching a non-light/dark person no longer explodes both people on mythic (basically changing it to how it works on normal and heroic).

It’s not about tuning dps/hps.

Kinda seems like you don’t have a horse in this race.

Perhaps you have some experience that I’m not aware of, but I don’t see that you’ve even cleared the raid yet.

In case you weren’t aware, this tier has seen more of the world’s top guilds quit than any that I can personally recall. The excessive system interaction (tier and ZM rep requirements, coupled with skyrocketing costs drove the administrative and logistical requirements through the roof.

The amount of effort required just to participate has far exceeded the fun.

Actually its because Anduin was the final boss of the raid for 9.2, and jailer in 9.3 but they cut that whole patch out after Sl failed and subs were bleeding dry, putting all devs on DF.

Let’s all be up-front with the fact that this was an 8-boss raid tier with Anduin as the final boss.

Then they decided to pull the plug on Shadowlands, like they did with WoD, and rolled the Jailer and the 2 other bosses they had worked on from the 4th raid into this. They even had to create a shoebox-sized TARDIS to hold them that wasn’t even connected to the rest of the raid.

In its original form, with Halondrus as the penultimate boss and Anduin as the big finale, the raid would have been fine. It was bailing on the 4th raid that got them into trouble.

Instead of the upcoming Stupid Season Four, which just recycles the raids we just did all over again, they should have released Jailer/Lords/Rygelon as a 3-boss mini-raid to finish off the expansion, instead.

Heroic should mean something again. Make your normals easy… give people less reason to complain. With the way mythic is I completely understand why people skip it

I gave mythic a shot once…it was beyond stressful and required nothing less then perfection and a mistake was a wipe. Never again. At least in heroic you can make mistakes and recover.

LFR’d it all this week, at long last I did all wings. Anduin did seem to be a stumbling block, I came in after people left both after him and then another time saw over half the group leave before it refilled. Anduin is the N’zoth of this tier, in that it’s making queue people /ragequit like non other. Jailer is so trivial for instance the only way I’ve died on him was accidentally falling down holes (and also getting knocked down said holes).

It may just be this particular raid, But our Guild struggled with even normal… I don’t really care because once I beat normal it’s all extra, But it felt like the skill ceiling was high and not gradual.

It was the Nzoth raid. First boss was BRUTAL. Hated it.
