Now, I’m not one of the Tinker obsessed people. And Tinkers would not be anywhere close to my choice to spend the new Class slot on.
But it feels like I’ve seen this movie before…
Demonology Warlocks were the “turn into a Demon Spec” for a decade. But then WoD came and it brought Demon Bolt. The thing about Demon Bolt is that it was always the clear DPS winner among it’s competing Talents, and also it basically reduced Metamorphosis uptime to 4 seconds. Suddenly turning into a Demon was no longer the core of Demonology. Then one expansion later Demon Hunters were introduced and Metamorphosis was removed from Warlocks.
Now, for a decade MM has been the “gun and no pet” themed spec. But Blizzard is suddenly changing that fantasy to “the hawk guy”. Not only that, the Hero Talent choices are between “Nature Magic” or “Necromancy”, with no option to be just the guy with the gun.
Now, here in Brazil we have a saying, “a dog that was bitten by a snake is scared of sausages”. Maybe it’s just that. Maybe these changes are just a sausage and I’m seeing a snake because of what happened last time.
But if I’m right, those changes mean they are going to add a new gun Class without nature and animals undertones, so they are pushing the “nature and animals” undertones harder on Hunters so the new Class can stand out.
And since guns are a technological type of weapon, if we are getting a non-naturey gun class, I would bet on Tinkers.
Despite the nonsensical responses, you might have a point OP.
I did notice that they gave Brann a tanking option, and that option was a tech shield and a hand gun, and they literally called it “Ranged tanking”. Brann also drops a AMOD mech that you can fight inside during delves.
