I think im done with wow

The game is honestly no longer fun, the aspect of wow that got ne addicted was the community, that is honestly no longer here. It seems as though retail mentality has bled through and everything is now about parsing and me me me not about others. I cant get invited to naxx because i dont have experience there because i cant get an invite, i cant join a guild to get said experience because apparently asking if people want to do a dungeon for reals is begging for gold/boosts, i cant farm due to the bots killing any farm and i cant do dungeons like kara because people want SE geared players for that

The community in SoD has become toxic if you are not a part of the clic making the mmo become what is essentially a single player game with the occasional side quest of a 5 man with people who cant even say hi

I started wow in December 2004 and i honestly think im just done, it took till BFA for me to quit retail wow and now i think i am done with classic because this is not in any way the same community i grew up with, it has been infected by retail snobs

Think i might go play a single player game where i can do what i want when i want and not have to deal with gatekeeping

I just know it somebody will say go watch a video.

Horde side is not like this.

Real runs are plentiful and guilds seem happy to help with real runs.

sounds like an alliance issue. you seem intent to leave but if you intend to stay let me know. happy to help guide your efforts.

Definitely know where you’re coming from with that. It’s kinda annoying to find group or raid that wont patronize you for being nice. I said “thank you for the run” to 1 raid and they all had really good gear. They gave me stick for winning 3 items that majority didnt need or roll on because maybe it was a guild run. Like “thanks for being a total item vacuum” “Hope you liked the carry ratgirl” “get you’re DPS up because you overal sucked” like wtf is wrong with some of you’s. The mass disrespect that this game now has is another level which is why I’m also leaving. Not to mention how bad the game has become overall.

Nail has been struck on the head here

I’m sorry to say this, but it’s just a symptom of multiplayer games in a world filled with celebrities that cater to children.

Until we end the ability to monetize streaming games, you’re going to get a lot of toxicity due to FOMO.

Guides were once how to reach a baseline, but they’ve been perverted by toxic (bad) players into must-haves. Players who would spurn $8.50 because they might find a $10 on the sidewalk one day. Players who think the game revolves around material rewards, without understanding that the material rewards exist to facilitate the next objective. They aren’t themselves the objective.

Retail WoW was long ago taken over by one of these players, someone thought of as a joke on the EJ forums. Classic WoW is headed by people who care more about their personal brands and relationships with streamers / recognized names than the average player. This isn’t exclusive to WoW, it’s simply modern online video games. They don’t care about the quality of the customer, only the quantity.

There was a brief period in the mid-aughts where people were starting to recognize video games as an art form. This was quickly destroyed by mega corporations gobbling up smaller studios, and losers like Fatal1ty trying to be celebrities. It took what was a growing art space, an egalitarian series of virtual worlds, and commodified them beyond recognition.

There are, and always will be, pockets of players that you can find who share like-minded goals. This is where your responsibility kicks in. The onus is on you to manage your own expectations. It sounds scary, it sounds unfair, but it’s how it always was. FOMO is cancer to this space. The idea of sociality is lost when certain faces are propped up.

Wat server u on? Crusader strike is 24/7 ive never had a problem puggin a run, real are everywhere, farmed 2 alts 150 weapons reals each, ezy.
Wpvp is banging, goin off atm. Im loving it.
Can i have your stuff?

WG alliance is good obviously there’s some people that are dicks but I’ve had a wonderful experience there starting closer to the end of p7

Are you trolling? You are 12/15 for hm4 naxx in t3 for resto. Seems like you tried to go boomy without gear in ur last run with 0 boomy gear and did nothing. If ur upset people won’t take u as boomy because you’re under geared that’s wild. Go resto and you will have no problem finding a group for naxx. Better yet. Join a guild and this problem doesn’t exist.

Yes, people changed on the internet over the years. Aint the same like before.

In other news. Water is wet.

“retail snobs” Literally nobody in retail is even 30% like this. The classic community is pathetic and min max 20 year old content that you can basically solo

:ok_hand:

Here’s the thing - it sounds like you have main character syndrome. I’ve seen it all too many times - people think their 15$ entitles them to be wined and dined, when the reality is they’re just one player who should be grateful to partake in this experience, and as a single person in a game with tens or hundreds of thousands of players, their needs do not come first.

When you play in a dungeon party, 80% of that party is not you (and its only more extreme when you scale up to raids). It is not your way or the highway, literally the reverse. The reality is that the community exists as it is, and as a renegade puzzle piece your job is to either find a slot you can fit into, or if you don’t want to put in that effort to find a fit you have to change the way you play to fit in. You will not change the machine. You are a small little cog compared to a vast machine.

There isn’t a point in time where the community of the game wouldn’t act like this to an underperforming DPS.

I think i might try going WG but i think ima go horde

Back to retail then snob. You aren’t as good as you think you are

Hit me up in game. < Raised by Wolves> is a active guild with 3 raid teams. We are mostly a dad guild but have a healthy blend of pumpers and Dads. We all hang out in discord often. On Saturday when we aren’t progging we host gulid movie night and someone streams something and we all just chill. We still run Naxx and AQ every week. A lot of us have been together since phase 1.

If you’re looking for a fresh start, not everyone is as you describe.

I blame Blizzard. - No. Really.

Back when there was cross-faction comms (alpha/beta), people were extremely ‘not pleasant’. Did Blizzard ban them? Nope. Just made it so you couldn’t understand the other languages. When it was found out that Forsaken could still speak Common, and abused that. Did Blizzard ban? Nope. They created Gutterspeak, and called it a day.

Instead of throwing out the trash, they just sprayed Febreze.

I also blame DPS Meters and ‘Logs’.

Both useful tools being misused by dumb people. They’ve coopted the term “parse” to mean, simply, looking at the rank. They aren’t intelligent enough to understand that “parsing” is short for “parsing logs”, you know, going over the data. You’re meant to be using those logs to see who is using what abilities, what consumables, and where they were during the fight.

When trying to do a lot of damage, someone will often say they’re “parsing”. They aren’t.

Language evolves. The word eyeball didn’t exist until Shakespeare used it and it caught on. Hell, personally I hate the word selfie but here we are.

Eyeball is a weird example of that because it’s a compound word of two words that existed in all languages well before that. By weird example, I mean it’s not an example of evolving language at all.
